Top Requests for IMC/Broadcast

Hey guys. Thought I'd share with you some more results from our Broadcaster survey. The survey ran for a month and I've read all of the 6000+ responses. My eyes are bleeding, and I had to drink 18 pots of coffee, but I think I can now say I understand what needs to change.

We ran this survey because we tried to change the IMC in August and it was NOT a popular change. In fact, you guys hated it. You guys said to keep the current IMC, but fix it. That is exactly what we are setting out to do. The list below is pretty comprehensive, but let me know what you think.

I'm going to address the "Just make it work" issue first. That mainly concerns two things:

1) Make the pages go through
2) Keep the broadcasts from dropping

Top Requests:
* Fix banning in the IMC so that it is tied to the Blocked Member List in preferences (we'll have this in the next week)
* Allow a broadcast to be tied to a specific Interest Group chat room
* Create page received notifications
* Filter the pages so that they are based on cupid settings

Changes we can make to paging:
* Create an audible notification of incoming pages
* Change the verbiage for a "page" for men (to reduce rudeness). You guys have to try to stop saying, "Take it off" to women who are broadcasting.
* Make paging more noticeable than they are right now
* Make an automated reply for incoming pages
* Create page received notifications
* Allow broadcasters to create a status message that all viewers can see
* Create profile picture thumbs for incoming pages so a broadcaster knows what they look like.
* Change the page response choices into check boxes, so you can deny multiple pages at once.
* Filter the pages so that they are based on cupid settings

Other changes we can make:
* Fix banning in the IMC so that it is tied to the Blocked Member List in preferences
* Allow a broadcast to be tied to a specific Interest Group chat room
* Have sexual preference next to name of viewers (so you know when someone is bi or gay)
* It would nice to be able to block out certain area codes. Like we love to cam but we are professional people and it would be so bad if someone from our neighborhood saw us on there
* When you view someone privately (by their request) I lose all other viewers who want to watch me (allow others to keep watching me chat to someone
* I'd like to see a list of people that watched the cam. Sometime after I switch off, I lose the people that I was interacting with and have no way to find them.

Straight Men Get Annoyed by Gay Men - Why Do You Answer Pages?

You may have noticed that there is a survey on the main page right now. It's asks you a bunch of questions about broadcasting. I'm the dood who writes these surveys, and I'm also the dood responsible for reading each of your replies and wrapping it up into a neat little presentation.

I was reading about what you guys look for before answering pages when broadcasting. Here's some interesting details:

- Straight men seem to get a lot of pages from gay men. If you're a woman or couple, they will probably respond to you.

- Women respond best if what you say in your page is nice. Don't be demanding or rude, don't tell them what to take off next. Get your profiles in order men, they look at that too before responding.

- Couples are looking for people who meet what they want (mainly gender, mainly no men). If you are contacting a couple, make sure your profile is complete.

How do you decide which page to answer? Here's a breakdown:

Men:

1) Gender (39% )
2) Profile Pic (31% )
3) What they said (11% )
4) Location (10% )
5) Age (9% )

Women:

1) What they said (36% )
2) Profile/Pic (22% )
3) Location (14% )
4) If I know them (9% )
5) Age (8% )
6) Gender (7% )
7) Marital Status (2% )

Couples:

1) Their Profile (31% )
2) What they say (27% )
3) Gender (21% )
4) Location (10% )
5) If we know them (6% )
6) Age (5% )

Men Behaving Badly - A Poll For the Ladies

We get a lot of feedback that men are clueless when it comes to approaching women on the site. Let's say we created an FAQ for men to address this issue. That FAQ would include some basic info about how to approach women on here.

Things like:

* The difference between a douchebag and a man
* How to read a womans profile
* How to refrain from sending emails that only say "suck my cock."

You know, the basics.

What I'd like to know is where you get the most rude/clueless noise as a woman. Is it the emails you get? Honestly the women who work here don't get a ton of rude emails, but maybe you're experience is different. Are most of the dumb comments coming from Chats or maybe Groups?

The point is for us to know where this FAQ should be placed for maximum impact.

Men need the most instruction before they...

What's New with Albums?
Posted:Oct 7, 2009 2:30 pm
Last Updated:Feb 2, 2011 1:40 pm

Hey guys, we just released some updates to the albums. Here's the deets:

Up until now, your albums have been private photos that only your friends could see. Moving forward you'll be able to make your albums public if you choose. Making an album public that means that anyone who can see your profile will also be able to see your album.

If you already have some albums, you've probably noticed that when you log in you'll be prompted to select any of your current albums that you want to be public. This is a choice, you do not have to make your albums public if you don't want. By default your old albums will stay private unless you choose to make them public.

When you create a new album you will decide if you want it to stay private between you and your friends or if you want to make it public to everyone. Don't worry though, you can always change it from public to private if you need to. The easiest way to get to your albums is by going to your Profile Page and clicking on your album.

The nice thing about albums is that you are able to put any picture you want inside of them. Pics of stuff like your car, your favorite bottle of wine, pics of last weekends party, really anything you want. It should open things up and let you share more than just a profile pic.

Standards will not be able to see your album, because they can not see your profile page.

Ask any questions you have below.

Photo, Video and Webam Policy Change - Bring your Friends
Posted:Sep 11, 2009 1:46 pm

42254 Views

You can now add anyone you want to your profile photos, video introductions and webcam broadcasts. As long as you are in the picture/video, anyone else can now be with you.

Here's another policy change that we think you'll appreciate. We've always rejected photos and videos if someone outside of your account was included. For instance, if you were a single male and a female was in your profile pic with you, it would get rejected. We realize that you are not alone all the time and we want to see your best pictures and videos.

Here's a good example from the couple tat2dinvegas1. Their super hot video introduction [video 1393171] would have rejected in the past because it is of a threesome and they are a couple. Now this video is fine to post because the couple is in the video, and that's our only requirement.

Questions:

Q: How do I know which person is the member if there are multiple people in the photo?
A: We hope that members will upload more than just one pic and if you read their profile you should be able to figure it out. You can always ask the member directly.

Q: What about my pets?
A: Still no pets. Actually, you can have a fish tank or bird cage in the background - but no pics of you and your dog, cat, snake, monkey, albino tiger or other exotic creature you may be keeping in the back yard.

Q: You see your pic on another members profile and you did not give the account holder permission to post your images. How do you get your picture taken down?
A: Let us know. We'll take down the image or video and ask the account holder to edit out other people before reposting.

Email Policy Change - Emailing Personal Information

Last Updated:Sep 21, 2009 2:29 pm
41220 Views

You can now email members with personal information on the first communication.

We've had a long standing policy here that required you to exchange two emails with another member before sharing any personal information like or outside email addresses. This helped cut down on some spam, but a lot of real emails were getting blocked as well. We wanted to make our communication system more useful for you, and let you decide when and what personal information to send.

Don't worry, you can still report Spam and we’ll take care of it. Just hit the "Report Abuse or Sexually Explicit Ads" button inside the email.

Please be very careful if you chose to share your personal information with another member. Consider using our instant messenger to get to know one another member before disclosing your phone number, address, or email. Be safe, and have fun!

How Long Should We Wait Before a Moderator is Concidered M.I.A.?

Group moderators have a funny way of vanishing sometimes. No one can reach them, and the group is left with co-mods that have limited tools to help the group out.

We've been working on a few solutions to this issue based on your feedback. We also want to know how long a moderator is gone before you consider them gone-gone/not engaged/needs to be replaced.

Should it be different for groups of different sizes?

Any thoughts you have, please leave. This goes straight to the team at Site Support Blog and they are the ones who will help when this happens.

Calling all broadcasters

So our attempt at improving the broadcasts was met with a lot of boos. We switched back to the old version, but it left us with some questions about how you use the tool.

We've always felt there is a better way to manage broadcasts than opening IMC, searching for a chat room - then firing up your cam. Even if you don't like chatting to a group, isn't managing pages kind of a pain in the ass?

I was hoping you could help us understand why the old version was so much better. If I had you on the phone, here is what I would ask you:

1) When you are broadcasting, are you chatting online with other members or simply broadcasting?
2) Do you prefer using a mic or text to chat? If both, how often do you use one over the other?
3) If you are chatting with other members, are you in an interest room group chat or responding to pages? Are you chatting somewhere else on our site, or even off our site
4) How do you decide which pages to answer? How many members do you usually talk to at once?
5) Would you like to have the option to put people you like into a group chat or do only want to keep it one on one?
6) What is the most irritating thing you find when you are broadcasting?
7) Do you use any other webcam software? and if so, what do you like best about it?
8 ) How many people who you communicate with while you are broadcasting?
9) As a broadcaster, what would you change to make things easier for you?

We want to improve the broadcasts, but next time we want to make sure not to take anything away from you. Help us understand what you could really use.

Welcome to the Community blog. A big hello to any new faces. My name is Ryan, I work at Affairlook and run this Community Blog and the Live From AFF group. Make sure to watch this blog to stay updated on all things Affairlook.

We are really excited to announce a new webcam Broadcast tool for Affairlook. We think you will dig it too. Leave your feedback here and let the whole team over here know what you think.

So what is new about it?

In a nutshell, chat and cams are now combined. We also gave viewers the ability to share their webcam with you.

How to start?

You don't need to turn anything on, just go check out any of the members currently broadcasting or start broadcasting yourself.

The New Stuff:

- Audience webcams: You will see a thumbnail of other broadcasters who are watching you.
- Those other broadcasters can choose to broadcast directly with you, or allow everyone else to see their broadcast as well.
- Who's Viewing Me box: Find out who is viewing you, what their age/sex is, how far away from you they are and their.
- Chat box: Chat with others about your broadcast, or hide it when you don't feel like chatting.
compatibility match. You can also ban or block members from here.
- Hide All link: If you don't want to see the chat, or who is viewing you then you can hide them and focus on your broadcast.

- Stop button: Allows you to stop and start the broadcast
- Time: Shows how long you have been broadcasting for
- Sound volume control: You'll be able to adjust your sound (many bugs fixed here)
- Window expand button: full screen viewing mode

Note: Standard Members can view the broadcast, but won't be able to join in on the chat.

Now go try it out. Have fun and leave any questions here!
