Life in California.....

Well Blogland buddies it's been quite awhile since I've posted anything and Jefe had to work today, so I figured I'd take a few moments to post.
California life is going well....for the most part. I'm able to see my and grand nearly every week and so I've been very happy about that. She's only about 25 miles away....so it doesn't take very long to get there.

During the early part of May I got pretty sick with a really bad cold and even though I didn't go to the doctor I'm pretty certain it was bronchitis and because I have such a tendancy to get bronchitis I knew that it was happening and also that if I didn't nip it in the bud ASAP it would soon become pnewmonia....which I've had many, many times. So, being I was so sick and knowing how I feel when it gets worse, I called my Dr. in Tucson and he prescribed antibiotics for me, which really, really helped. Jefe during all this time was an absolute SAINT!

Work is going well and I'm happy to be getting real paychecks every week. I'm not liking driving 23-24 miles to and from work every day, but at least I am working. I still have yet to see a penny of my back pay from the medical billing company....and they owe me over 7K. I have an "inside" source who tells me that my ex employer is on the verge of getting his funding/investors. So I hope he will be honorable and do the right thing...and send me my money.

I've managed to put a bit of weight on since I've been here...not too terribly much, but some. I can still comfortably wear the jeans and stuff I brought out with me nearly 3 months ago. Geez, can you all believe it... on the 18th of June, I will have been out here with Jefe for 3 months.

He and I are doing very well....still lot's to learn about each other...day by day we learn more and more. So far, neither one of us is ready to give up the ghost...LOL...and that's a good thing. We're looking for a new apartment, something bigger than what we have now. All though the apartment we have is nice (it's in an older complex) and the rooms for the most part are quite large, it's still not big enough and there is no where for me to bring in any of my stuff once I get them here from Tucson, which I hope will be soon. As long as I don't have any $$$$ problems crop up, I should be able to take care of moving the rest out soon.

My car was giving me problems about 2 weeks ago, but it's running ok now....keeping my fingers crossed, hoping nothing happens. Someone got into my car 2 weekends ago...Jefe and I had forgot to lock the door, and someone ( probably) got into it looking for money (probably)...anyway...they didn't find any. I found 30 bucks about a month ago on the steps of our complex....didn't keep it....instead put it back where I found it and hoped that whoever lost it would find it....but I doubt it. I have to admit I struggled with whether to keep it or not...but decided that if it were me who had lost it, I would be very upset, so I put it back...and I'm glad I did....but I honestly don't think the person who lost it found it.

I talked with my miss candy69sosweetcandy69sosweet last week/friday....it was a fantastic visit...so happy to see her spread her wings and take care of what she needs to do. I'm hoping everything goes well for her. Talked to
duststormdiva about a month or so ago one night....great visit with her as well...and I also had a really good visit with mzhunyholemzhunyhole shortly after I came out to CA. FYI...mzhuny... I haven't forgotten about the picture I said I send ya...IE: Marilyn Monroe stuff. We just haven't gotten down to Hollywood yet.

Anyway...that's a bit of what's new with me and with Jefe lately. I hope everyone in Blogland is doing good.

Hey there Bloglanders... how the hell are ya? I've been so busy this past month and just have had way too much on my mind. New job is going great, my car finally made it out here last night, but I have yet to get to my 's house to drive it to my home with Jefe. I've been renting a car nearly all month, just cuz I hadn't been able to fly home to get mine...long story, too much to get into....but basically, just has to do with time and money. My computer made it out with my car... can't wait to get it hooked up.

Jefe and I got "scolded" by the apartment manager....seems there's been a few complaints... "People can hear you in the middle of the night"... LOL... "so, keep it down"... my thought is.. Jefe better NOT keep it down. Actually, I'm the one it was directed at, but hey.... it FEELS GOOD... Dammit!

Tomorrow is my grand daughters 2nd birthday...and she's havin a party.....Jefe is going to do some melon sculptures. My can't wait to see them.

All in all... all is well, I'm fine.. Jefe is fine and life is busy...but good and getting better.

Take care and say hey once in awhile ok?

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.
"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin.
But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American.
There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all.
We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Many Women Still Misinformed.....10 years ago today....

10 years ago, today...I had a heart attack.

It was so mild, I didn't even know it happened.

How I found out that I had it was when about 5 days later I went to the doctor because my back hurt.
He immediately put me in the hospital and the next day they ran a Coronary Angiogram.

The right side of my heart was 100% blocked and the left side was ok.

I didn't have to have bypass surgery, because my own body created it's own bypass.

I was very lucky and so far have had very little if no symptoms or problems since. I do however, have to take medication every day, but in general, my heart has been fine and I've done great.

Fortunately, it has never caused me a problem with sex...in fact, according to my cardioligist...SEX helps my heart maintain a better beat, since otherwise it is very irregular.

Affairlook...Please allow this information to post. Thank you.

Dear ladies of Blogland...(and you Men too)....

Please take this information to heart...literally. If you've ever felt anything at all like any of these symptoms...please don't ignore them.

Get it checked out.

Many Women Still Misinformed About Heart Disease
By Dennis Thompson
HealthDay Reporter

FRIDAY, March 31 (HealthDay News) -- It's a health message that doctors have been directing at women for some time, but too often it fails to get through: The classic sign of a heart attack isn't always searing pain in the chest, usually lasting several minutes.

But that's not necessarily the symptom felt by women, who make up 50 percent of America's heart attack victims.

"Women more often than men experience shortness of breath, unusual fatigue, or the pressure is lower down in the chest so it is mistaken for a stomach ailment," said Dr. Nieca Goldberg, a cardiologist with Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City and author of Women Are Not Small Men.

In fact, many aspects of heart disease are different for women than men -- its onset, its progression, its symptoms.

Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of both women and men, according to the National Institutes of Health. But women are less likely than men to believe they're having a heart attack and more likely to delay seeking emergency treatment.

One big reason may be because most don't experience that classic chest pain, a recent study by the College of Nursing at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science found.

Researchers polled 515 women who'd recently had a heart attack regarding their symptoms, and found that fewer than 30 percent complained of chest discomfort.

The most frequent acute symptoms were shortness of breath (58 percent), weakness (55 percent), and fatigue (43 percent). Women also complained of sleep disturbances, back pain, indigestion and anxiety, the survey found.

"Women should be aware of these symptoms, so they can go get help," Goldberg said. "Women are very in tune to their bodies. When they feel different, they should go in and get checked out."

The time frame for greatest heart attack risk for women also is different than men. Women tend to be about 10 years older than men when they have a heart attack, according to the National Institutes of Health.

The typical male profile involves a 50-year-old man with devastating chest pain. But for women, menopause is the time when they enter their danger zone.

"Women, when they enter menopause, they have a much greater risk of high blood pressure and a much greater risk of high bad cholesterol," said Dr. Richard Stein, director of preventive cardiology at Beth Israel Hospital in New York City.

Doctors believe this could be due to the falling estrogen and progesterone levels that women experience during menopause, Stein said.

But studies have shown that hormone-replacement therapy actually increases heart attack risk for women rather than lowering it, he added.

"The typical time for a woman to have a heart attack is about 10 years after menopause," Goldberg said, placing it around age 60.

Women also tend to exhibit more risk factors for heart disease than men, Goldberg said. These factors include:

Diabetes.
Smoking.
Lack of exercise.
Obesity.
"Two-thirds of women who have their first heart attack die suddenly," Goldberg said. "They have complications because they come into the health-care system late. Women as a whole tend to take care of everyone but themselves."

To head off heart disease, post-menopausal women should undergo regular blood pressure and cholesterol checks -- and do them with greater frequency than men do, Stein said.

For example, a man at risk of a heart attack should have his blood pressure checked once a year.

But because women's heart attack risk increases so dramatically following menopause, Stein recommends they have their blood pressure tested at least twice a year and their cholesterol tested at least once a year.

Women also should pay attention to how they feel when exerting themselves, Goldberg said.

"When the situation gets more serious, the person will get symptoms with less and less exertion, or even at rest," she said. "So that's a big clue. Six weeks before they have an actual heart attack, they will have exertion symptoms."

Women should also cut back on smoking and drinking, and watch their diet, Stein said.

Regular aerobic exercise and a high-fiber, low-fat diet can be the two best ways to head off a heart attack, he said.

"Diet and exercise are critical parts of prevention for women," Stein said.

And women can't start taking care of themselves soon enough, Goldberg added.

"We can actually see the earliest buildup of plaque in a woman's late teens and 20s," she said. "The groundwork starts early. It's important to adapt to a healthy lifestyle when you're young."

My new job starts this coming Monday, the 10th of April.

It's at an RV center here in the Inland Empire area of Southern CA.

I've been hired to do warranty submittal, which is where my niche is and where I find to be the best suited for. Starting pay is good, not great but acceptable, plus in 90 days I'll be reviewed and then bumped up with more $$$.

I go for my drug test tomorrow morning and to fill out paperwork. I know I'll have no problem with the drug screening, cuz I don't do 'em...and as long as I don't eat anything with poppy seeds. lol.

The interview I was to have last week on Wednesday didn't happen, because about 5-6 min's before I got there the guy who owns the place got called into a production meeting....and so he and I never got to talk. Oh' well...as it turns out, that particular company was too small and I didn't get good vibes from the place while I was there.

Anyway...so sometime tomorrow evening or Friday morning I'll be flying back to Tucson to get my car, and more clothes...my computer and whatever else I can fit into the car.

I have yet to decide what to do with my house...not sure if I'll rent it out or sell it.

I want to keep it if I can, because the area of town it's in is very popular...and the houses there are selling very well. 3 years ago my house was appraised at close to 50K more than what I paid for it just 3 years before that. Basically it nearly doubled. So, since it's been another 3 years since then I imagine it is considerably higher, maybe even tripled what I originally paid for it.

So, that's what's happening in my little corner of the world.

I'm anxious to get my life back on track since I've been living in limbo for the last 6 months. Now if I can just get my back pay from the old place...and get my taxes filed I'll feel much better.

I hope all is well with everyone in Blogland.

Is she ok? Did something happen?

I've been away from Blogland for about 2 weeks or so and have lost track of what's going on with everyone, but noticed her blog is nearly gone except for 1 post and no comments other than hers.
