Just a quick FYI this morning...
You may have noticed this morning that the new profile is gone. You may have also noticed that chat in Firefox is showing colors again and bling is stacking correctly.
This is because we rolled back the December 8th release. We got some things to work on before putting it back in place.

Making Message Center Better

Every day members send about 600,000 emails to each other. That's about 20 million emails a month. Our message center is pretty old and we've noticed that the ratio of emails sent to emails responded to could probably be better.
A lot of the emails that never get a response are from men who don't know how to read a profile, some are spam, but I'll bet a lot of email is ignored simply because of the message center itself.
Some things I'd like to see:
- To be able to find a member and email them from the message center
- A way to star or flag an email
- A way to make an email unread
- A folder to organize your Sent messages (nas recommendation)
- A preview of the email without opening it
- Unlimited storage
What about you?
1) What bugs you most about the message center?
2) Ladies, you get a lot of email. How do you organize it all right now? What could we do it make it easier?
3) Are there any long standing bugs we are missing out on fixing?

Recent Issues on the Site

It's been a hectic few days around here. I know we've had a series of issues since our last release on Tuesday (Dec. 8th). Thought we'd have a post so I can let you know what we're currently tracking, and for you to let me know what other recent issues you find.
FIXED
1) Members getting bounced to the Log In Screen
Happens when you are:
- Clicking on an Advice Line Post
- Clicking on an Thread inside the Article Pages (Magazine)
- Inside of a Groups topic discussion, click from page 1 to page 2, 3, 4…
2) Group Posts and Polls are missing the main post. All the comments are still there, but the main post that started the thread is missing. Only a problem in Groups.
3) Blog - "Most recent comments by (member)" section is missing. The section, which ran along the right hand side of Blog Main, just vanished.
4) All black text in chat rooms using Firefox. Previously it defined a members post with a color. Flash Chat is still working.
5) My Friend Network Main Page - The columns on the Bulletins section aren't lining up in a table. Messed up in both IE and FF
8 ) Favorite Photos Page is not working It only displays the last photo added. It won’t display any of the other photos.
SEEMS TO BE FIXED - What are you guys seeing:
6) In Firefox HTML color coding isn’t always working. Defining color by NAME is working, but not HEXIDECIMAL
7) Headers, Posts and Comments used to have a defined width that members could put multi-bling into. Now you have to define the width in order to stack Bling. It also seems that using percentages to define width isn't always working. Defining by pixels does work.
NOT FIXED:
9) New Profile View Missing Information Date Joined, Kudos and ID confirm all missing from the new profile view
10) Resizing of cam in IE8 seems to snap between small/med/large or warp the cam.
Let me know of any other issues.

First off, a happy Thanksgiving to all the stateside folks. Most everyone here is off until Monday. For our overseas friends - Yes, celebrating our relationship with the Indians is a bit wack. We this land and stole it from them while killing many of them with our puritan diseases. But for one day of the year we like to pretend none of that happened. Instead we get drunk and stuffed with our families, and each person gets to say what they are thankful for.
This year I'm thankful for my job as this marks my one year anniversary at Affairlook.
OK, enough about me.
In the coming months your photos and videos are going to take a bigger role in your world here. You'll be able to add multiple pics and even videos to your blogs and groups. First out of the gate is a change to the way you can view photos/albums and videos in your profile.
What we have now:
Right now there are two tabs on your profile (Photos, Videos). Each tab takes you to a little view of photos or videos within that little square in the top left of your profile.
What it is changing to:
On your profile, there are 3 tabs (Main Profile, Videos, Photos/Albums). Right now each tab shows you Each of those tabs will take you to a different view. For example, if you click the photo tab, it will show you a view with all photos and albums that member has uploaded. You would have to go back to the Profile Main tab in order to see the description of that member.
On this post you can see the Profile Main View. Here's the views from the other 2 tabs:

Note Your profile photos are considered an album moving forward. Your profile photo album. This is pretty much how every other social networking site does it (think Facebook).
If you guys have any thoughts, if you think we are missing something, or you think you may want to kill over this change - please let me know before we make the change.

Like you, I spend a good deal of the day on here looking at uploaded pics. You look at enough pics and things start to jump out at you.
I know you guys do this too! Beware are the warped door frames, it's a dead giveaway.

Videos Just Got a Major Bump

Good news! Your videos just got larger and longer. We've got a building full of empty servers just waiting for you to fill them up (wow, that sounded sexual). This was something that many of you have been asking for, so it should be welcome news for a lot of us.
Here are the deets...
New Lengths for Recorded Video Intros:
* The maximum length of each video has been increased to 40 minutes for all members.
(up from 10 minutes for standard members, 15 for Gold and Silver)
* The limit for sum of all recorded videos is now 180 minutes for all members.
(up from 10 minutes for standard, 30 for Silver, and 60 for Gold)
New Sizes for Uploaded Videos:
* We've increased acceptable (per video) file size from 30mb to 300mb.
* The total storage per user is up from 500 mb to 2gb.
Now start filming, and fill up our sexy virgin servers (ok, that WAS sexual)!

Just a quick request here. I've been hearing that some people are getting photo upload notifications for members outside of their cupid settings.
If this has happened to you, could you post in the comments so I have your handle. We'll get it fixed, I just need some examples to work off of.

OK guys, the notification bar is ready for you to test! We're making this sneak peak available to members who read this blog and the Live From AFF group only. If you know someone who would like to test this too, feel free to share.
This is exciting for a few reasons:
1) We are asking before doing. Over the last few months the team over here at Affairlook has really valued your feedback. You catch things we miss, you have great ideas and there's a good channel of communication open. For the notification bar, we want to hear from you first.
2) It's pretty damn cool. It should be something that is really useful. I've been using it internally for the last few weeks and really dig it.
Take your time, and put it to the test. Break it if you can. Make sure to take the survey after you've had a few days with it. Every answer you give will be read by the whole team.

* You have full control over which settings you want on and off. To begin with, please keep them all on.
* Make sure to take the survey! It's the only way to guarantee we will hear what you have to say.

Here we are, the last few days before the craziness of the holidays overwhelms you. Time to get outside and enjoy the fall colors and crunch dry leaves underneath your feet. Except for our Aussie friends or course. They live in that upside down hemisphere and it's just getting warm for them.
Over the next few months you'll see a continued focus on bugs here at Affairlook. We have some cool new features lined up that should make communicating with other members a lot easier.
Keep adding suggestions here. We review all of these and many get integrated into improvements we make.
