Doing This Does Not Make You Shine Brighter  The world is full of so much anger and negativity. Yes, it has always been around but lately, it seems worse than ever. Look around you and it is everywhere. I have heard and seen comments on pretty much everything: the way people look, on the way people write, on their photography, on what food they eat, on what they wear. It’s an infinite list. Calling someone fat won’t make you any thinner. Calling someone dumb doesn’t make you any smarter. Calling someone ugly doesn’t make you any more beautiful/handsome. Ruining someone else’s day won’t make yours any better. While it is difficult, remember that negative comments say more about the person making them, than the person they are intended for. The fact is that you do not make yourself better hurting someone else’s feelings. Use your words and actions t.o be kind and lift someone up. You and everyone else will be better off for it.  |

While society has increased awareness of "tolerance" things have actually gotten less tolerant. Children are taught in school that everyone is right, everyone is a winner. That isn't necessarily wrong, because everyone does have something worthwhile to contribute to society. But, kids are also not able to cope with differing opinions. In fact, those teaching tolerance are intolerant of those that don't agree with their new society point of view. I don't approve of everyone's choice of lifestyles, for example. They may not approve of mine. Further, Hollywood, Bollywood, nor Washington politicians will tell me how to think. BUT, I don't ridicule or promote hate towards those I don't see eye to eye with. Favoritism breeds hate. Today, all kinds of groups get special treatment. This group can protest, that group cannot. Even the BLM movement is given a free pass at vandalism. I venture there is greater disrespect between races than over the last decades. Hollywood teaches children and women that men are scumbags and incompetent fathers and husbands. Sure some are--most aren't. But this breeds contempt between the genders. We are a mess as a society. Your post, though, is spot on!

Great post !. I allowed a negative testimonial because i ve always felt that those kind of statements say more about the poster than it does abt me. Those that continually post comments in the negative vein...are suspect to me. Not good energy~ We never know whats going on behind the scenes of another. Its no skin off anyones back to be less critical and exhibit...kindness ~~

You have nice thoughts and it would be real nice if all could abide.. But you know this is not a perfect world . We try to be nice, thoughtful and kind, even to turn the other cheek.....BUT when it is needed slap the shit out of them , call them out.. I know, not nice but some times it gives you just a GOOD feeling.. "Words hurt and can last forever. Why not be the instigator of a better tomorrow?" Yes they last forever. but sometimes they are needed to correct a yesterday... Sorry to have this opinion today , But I live in this real world with these other people. And some will never be nice, polite or truthful.. I do hope for you a good day , do be safe and careful.. I really was not raining on your parade, just some comments from down south....... Very well said! My first reaction was to think "I hope those that need to hear this the most, will listen to such wisdom and recognize where they need to make changes in their own lives." It didn't take long for me to do some self assessment and recognize that, although I am very careful not to speak negatively toward or about others, I do not always make the extra time or take the extra effort to encourage and support others and "be kinder than necessary." Its the new way of thinking !! You are not allowed to have an opinion that is different from the Mob The Mob will now tell you what you like and want !! The cancel culture is here rewriting history of all our nations and people facts don't matter much anymore only what makes the Mob feel Justified in their actions matters !! I am so glad i lived in the time I did cause the society is crumbling fast !!
