A 9/11 Rememberance

This article appeared shortly after 9/11 and I was so touched by it that I kept it and blogged it at the time. It's worth recalling and it's worth taking the time to read A 911 Rememberance How WW III Started in 1979 just below.

Widespread but only partial news coverage was given to a remarkable editorial broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television commentator. What follows is the full text of his trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional Record:

"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth. Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.

When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it. When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes. Nobody helped. The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans.

I'd like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10? If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes?

Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon - not once, but several times and safely home again. You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. Even their draft-dodgersare not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here.

When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke. I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.

Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those."

Stand proud, America!

Today is a day in our history like no other. It's a day to remember heros and fanatics. There are two articles that come to my mind today. I am posting this article first so it can appear as a sequel to the article that appeared shortly after 9/11.

US Navy Captain Ouimette is the Executive Officer at Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida. Here is a copy of the speech he gave last month. It is an accurate account of why we are in so much trouble today and why this action is so necessary.

AMERICA NEEDS TO WAKE UP!

"That's what we think we heard on the 11th of September 2001 (When more than 3,000 Americans were killed -AD) and maybe it was, but I think it should have been "Get Out of Bed!" In fact, I think the alarm clock has been buzzing since 1979 and we have continued to hit the snooze button and roll over for a few more minutes of peaceful sleep since then.

It was a cool fall day in November 1979 in a country going through a religious and political upheaval when a group of Iranian students attacked and seized the American Embassy in Tehran. This seizure was an outright attack on American soil; it was an attack that held the world's most powerful country hostage and paralyzed a Presidency. The attack on this sovereign U. S. Embassy set the stage for events to follow for the next 25 years.

America was still reeling from the aftermath of the Vietnam experience and had a serious threat from the Soviet Union when, then President Carter, had to do something. He chose to conduct a clandestine raid in the desert. The ill-fated mission ended in ruin, but stood as a symbol of America's inability to deal with terrorism.

America's military had been decimated, down sized and “right” sized since the end of the Vietnam War. A poorly trained, poorly equipped and poorly organized military was called on to execute a complex mission that was doomed from the start.

Shortly after the Tehran experience, Americans began to be kidnapped and killed throughout the Middle East. America could do little to protect her citizens living and working abroad. The attacks against US soil continued!

In April of 1983 a large vehicle packed with high explosives was driven into the U.S. Embassy compound in Beirut. When it explodes, it kills 63 people. The alarm went off again and America hit the Snooze Button once more.

Then just six short months later in 1983 a large truck heavily laden down with over 2,500 pounds of TNT smashed through the main gate of the U.S. Marine Corps headquarters in Beirut and 241 U.S. servicemen are killed. America mourns her dead and hit the Snooze Button once more.

Two months later in December 1983, another truck loaded with explosives is driven into the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait, and America continues her slumber.

The following year, in September 1984, another van was driven into the gate of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut and America slept.

Soon the terrorism spreads to Europe. In April 1985 a bomb explodes in a restaurant frequented by U.S. soldiers in Madrid.

Then in August 1985 a Volkswagen loaded with explosives is driven into the main gate of the US Air Force Base at Rhein-Main, 22 are killed and the Snooze Alarm is buzzing louder and louder as U.S. interests are continually attacked.

Fifty-nine days later in 1985 a cruise ship, the Achille Lauro is hijacked and we watched as an American in a wheelchair is singled out of the passenger list and executed.

The terrorists then shift their tactics to bombing civilian airliners when they bomb TWA Flight 840 in April of 1986 that killed 4 and then the most tragic bombing, Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988, killing 259.

Clinton treated these terrorist acts as crimes; in fact we are still trying to bring these people to trial. But, these are acts of war. The wake up alarm is getting louder and louder.

The terrorists decide to bring the fight to America. In January 1993, two CIA agents are shot and killed as they enter CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia.

The following month, February 1993, a group of terrorists are arrested after a rented van packed with explosives is driven into the underground parking garage of the World Trade Center in New York City. Six people are killed and over 1,000 are injured. Still, we think this is a crime and not an act of war! The Snooze Alarm is depressed again.

Then in November 1995 a car bomb explodes at a U.S. military complex in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia killing seven service men and women.

A few months later in June of 1996, another truck bomb explodes just 35 yards from the U.S. military compound in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. It destroys the Khobar Towers, a U.S. Air Force barracks, killing 19 and injuring over 500. The terrorists are getting braver and smarter as they see that America does not respond decisively.

They move to coordinate their attacks in a simultaneous attack on two U.S. Embassies in Kenyaand, Tanzania. These attacks were planned with precision. They kill 224. America responds with cruise missile attacks and goes back to sleep.

The USS Cole was docked in the port of Aden, Yemen for refueling on 12 October 2000, when a small craft pulled along side the ship and exploded killing 17 U.S. Navy Sailors. Attacking a U.S. War Ship is an act of war, but we sent the FBI to investigate the crime and went back to sleep.

And of course you know the events of 11 September 2001. Most Americans think this was the first attack against U.S. soil or in America. How wrong they are. America has been under a constant attack since 1979 and we chose to hit the Snooze Alarm and roll over and go back to sleep!!!

In the news lately we have seen lots of finger pointing from every high official in government over what they knew and what they didn't know. But if you've read the papers and paid a little attention I think you can see exactly what they knew. You don't have to be in the FBI or CIA or on the National Security Council to see the pattern that has been developing since 1979.

I think we have been in a war for the past 25 years and it will continue until we as a people decide enough is enough! America needs to "Get out of Bed" and act decisively now. America has been changed forever. We have to be ready to pay the price and make the sacrifice to ensure our way of life continues. We cannot afford to keep hitting the snooze button again and again and roll over and go back to sleep.

After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Admiral Yamamoto said "... it seems all we have done is awakened a sleeping giant." This is the message we need to disseminate to terrorists around the world.

This is not a political thing to be hashed over in an election year this is an AMERICAN thing. This is about our Freedom and the Freedom of our in years to come."

Midlife Crisis!

After I had been married for 25 years, I took a look at my wife one day and said, "Honey, 25 years ago, we had a cheap apartment, an old car, watched a 10 inch black and white TV and slept on a sofa bed but I got to sleep every night with a hot 25 year old blonde.

Now, we have a nice house, big car, plasma screen TV and king-size bed but I'm sleeping with a 50 year old woman. It seems to me that you are not holding up your side of things."

My wife is a very reasonable woman. She told me to go out and find a hot 25 year old blonde, and she would make sure that I would once again be living in a cheap apartment, driving an old car and sleeping on a sofa bed.

Aren't older women great. They really know how to solve your mid-life crisis....

Tell me what you read and I'll tell you who you are!

The Wall Street Journal is read by the people who run the country.

The Washington Post is read by people who think they run the country.

The New York Times is read by people who think they should run the country and who are very good at crossword puzzles.

USA Today is read by people who think they ought to run the country but don't really understand The New York Times. They do, however, like their statistics shown in pie charts.

The Los Angeles Times is read by people who wouldn't mind running the country -- if they could find the time -- and if they didn't have to leave Southern California to do it.

The Boston Globe is read by people whose parents used to run the country and did a far superior job of it, thank you very much.

The New York Daily News is read by people who aren't too sure who's running the country and don't really care as long as they can get a seat on the train.

The New York Post is read by people who don't care who's running the country as long as they do something really scandalous, preferably intoxicated.

The Miami Herald is read by people who are running another country but need the baseball scores.

The San Francisco Chronicle is read by people who aren't sure there is a country .. or that anyone is running it; but if so, they oppose all that they stand for. There are occasional exceptions if the leaders are handicapped minority feminist atheist dwarfs who also happen to be illegal aliens from any other country or galaxy, provided, of course, that they are not Republicans.

The National Enquirer is read by people trapped in line at the supermarket. They don't read anything else, except traffic signs.

Anyone remember evening newspapers? Do you remember your town having more than one newspaper and each was owned by a different syndicate so you got two opinions? How about the comics, Li'l Abner, Dick Tracy, Blondie and Dagwood or maybe you only remember Peanuts?

Hi everyone.

I had a really great vacation and golfed my heart out. After my return it was back to reality fast. I had to get busy cleaning and painting one of my apartments so it could be rented again. You'll hear from as soon as I have a chance to get caught up on some of your recent posts. Right now, it's back to work and reality.

Hi Friends,

I have plans to visit my brother in Cincinnati from August 11 - 21. Meanwhile, a death in the family of a very good friend forces me to go to Pittsburgh for a few days this week. With all this traveling, I'm not sure how many opportunities I'll have to "check in" for the next few weeks.

These are from a book called Disorder in the American Courts, and are things people actually said in court, word for word, taken down and now published by court reporters who had the torment of staying calm while these exchanges were actually taking place.

ATTORNEY: Are you sexually active?
WITNESS: No, I just lie there.

ATTORNEY: What is your date of birth?
WITNESS: July 18th.
ATTORNEY: What year?
WITNESS: Every year.

ATTORNEY: What gear were you in at the moment of the impact?
WITNESS: Gucci sweats and Reeboks.

ATTORNEY: How old is your , the one living with you?
WITNESS: Thirty-eight or thirty-five, I can't remember which.
ATTORNEY: How long has he lived with you?
WITNESS: Forty-five years.

ATTORNEY: What was the first thing your husband said to you that morning?
WITNESS: He said, "Where am I, Cathy?"
ATTORNEY: And why did that upset you?
WITNESS: My name is Susan.

ATTORNEY: Now doctor, isn't it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he doesn't know about it until the next morning?
WITNESS: Did you actually pass the bar exam?

ATTORNEY: The youngest , the twenty-year-old, how old is he?
WITNESS: Uh, he's twenty-one.

ATTORNEY: Were you present when your picture was taken?
WITNESS: Would you repeat the question?

ATTORNEY: So the date of conception (of the baby) was August 8th?
WITNESS: Yes.
ATTORNEY: And what were you doing at that time?
WITNESS: Uh....

ATTORNEY: She had three , right?
WITNESS: Yes.
ATTORNEY: How many were boys?
WITNESS: None.
ATTORNEY: Were there any girls?

ATTORNEY: How was your first marriage terminated?
WITNESS: By death.
ATTORNEY: And by whose death was it terminated?

ATTORNEY: Can you describe the individual?
WITNESS: He was about medium height and had a beard.
ATTORNEY: Was this a male or a female?

ATTORNEY: Is your appearance here this morning pursuant to a deposition notice which I sent to your attorney?
WITNESS: No, this is how I dress when I go to work.

ATTORNEY: Doctor, how many of your autopsies have you performed on dead people?
WITNESS: All my autopsies are performed on dead people.

ATTORNEY: ALL your responses MUST be oral, OK? What school did you go to?
WITNESS: Oral.

ATTORNEY: Do you recall the time that you examined the body?
WITNESS: The autopsy started around 8:30 p.m.
ATTORNEY: And Mr. Denton was dead at the time?
WITNESS: No, he was sitting on the table wondering why I was doing an autopsy on him.

ATTORNEY: Are you qualified to give a urine sample?
WITNESS: Huh?

ATTORNEY: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: Did you check for blood pressure?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY Did you check for breathing?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?
WITNESS: No.
ATTORNEY: How can you be so sure, Doctor?
WITNESS: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.
ATTORNEY: But could the patient have still been alive, nevertheless?
WITNESS: Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law.

Late yesterday I wrote "The blogs have the blahs." I felt that way since I've been uninspired by the posts of even the best of the best writers of Blogland. Seems like everyone is a little down and maybe it has to do with the heat wave that's sweeping the nation.

However, commenting on a blog last night made me think that I have probably been blessed with a rather fun life. So, after reading heartbreak stories, tales of cruel spouses, fantasy articles, whimsical poems, true confessions, sex 101, tell-all games and how to have fun sleeping alone (just kidding), I thought I'd roll them all together into one great big long blog about ME!

So my marraige ended in a bitter divorce but that was twenty-five years ago. I've been single since but I've had some terrific friends and lovers. I've even had a fabulous career. I have two wonderful sons and daughters-in-law and three beautiful grandchildren.

I've won dance contests, skied the mountains of New York, Vermont and New Hampshire, swam in the Gulf, the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, been whale watching and deep-sea fishing, had box seats for the Phillies and Eagles, was president of an English Dart league for five years, played tennis from age 15 to 35, smoked pot just once (cough, cough), partied in gay and lesbian bars in Provincetown, caroused in Acapulco, Rome and London, been to the theater in New York City and London, concerts in Philadelphia and the ballet in St. Petersburgh, Russia, own some original artwork, eaten in the finest restaurants, worn a tux just to go out for Valentine's Day, gambled in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, cruised the Mediterranian from Venice to Spain and the Baltic Sea twice from Denmark to Estonia, golfed in PA, NJ, VA, FL, NV and AZ, own two apartment buildings in Philadelphia and a gorgeous home in Arizona, have my own website (no, not porno), drive a Cadillac, love my cat and finally, thanks to Affairlook, I can blog my story and get to fantasize over all you sexy women (not really, really, maybe, no really, well sometimes).

When it comes to lovers, they've all been friends but a couple were LTRs. I lost my virginity to the woman I married. After divorcing I dated a woman 15 years my senior for five years and we had sex every night. Since then I've managed a variety of interesting, maybe educational, experiences; two affairs with separate married women, an affair with a co-worker, knew a neighbor who would pop in on me from time to time just for sex, once had sex with three different female friends in 24 hours, have never been with a and had a one-night stand only once, had two women faint after we had sex, lived with a girl who loved dildos and oral, made love in six countries counting the US, have experienced "couples" encounters, been told I have magic fingers, been called a "love makin' bunny" (blushes...) and the best compliment after sex was "Wow." Finally, I've gone out with five lovely ladies I met here and had sex with four. Wish any one of them lived closer to Philly.

Hey! What's an old guy have to talk about but memories....

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl
"Will you marry me?" The girl said,
"No!" And the guy lived happily ever
after and went camping, fishing,
played golf a lot, drank beer, burbed
and farted whenever he wanted.

Seems I'm not the only one suffering "Blogging Block" with the dawn of summer. The Memorial Day weekend brought beautiful weather and for me that meant some time on the golf course.w

The past couple of days I've tried to catch up. and apparently I've missed a lot. It's too late to add my two cents so I'll comment like this:
mzhunyhole Missed Mz Huny's birthday and so many fun posts
amberabercrombie Our dear little Amber is growing "old,"
sensuous_salz Sexy Salz has hit "50," blogs that is
silkditty LMAO visioning Silk's pretty legs dancing around a puddle of pee
catseyes23 Prayers for lovely Cats with her health scare
purrykitty2 And wishes that precious Purry finds the perfect new job
On the brighter side,
redheadedmedstd Papy and Red have added some daring new photos.

Hopefully I'll be able to resume some regular posts but I've gotta take time for golfing, biking along the river and and maybe a weedend or two at the beach. Maybe this summer I'll meet Ms. Right instead of a Ms Always Right!

Anyway, how do you like to spend your summer? Got any BIG plans? BIGGER desires?

What you see is not a see-thru skirt. It's actually a print on the skirt to make it look as if the panties are visible and I've been told that these are the current rage in Japan. Do you think they'll catch on here in the USA?
