Wednesday is my birthday and I had this crazy idea. If just a few people send me an e-mail with flowers, I would have enough points to buy a gold membership for a month. So that's what I would like for my birthday! Anybody willing to send me a flowery e-mail?

I always remember my parents taking us (me and my twin brother) to China town in NY for our birthday and discovering that my birthday was on Chinese New Year! What a crowd! I didn't know then I would learn Chinese and study Chinese history, but now I enjoy having my birthday being around chunjie, because it is a new year twice over.
So I hope everyone has a great new year. Friendly messages and birthday greetings are welcome.

Blog vs Magazine

So I'm wondering how to differentiate between articles in the magazine and your blog. Seems the blog gets more attention. I posted an article about Singapore that nobody has responded to. Wonder if it will get more attention here.
Am I the only guy here who has noticed that Singapore is the hottest country on this site? Now maybe it isn't fair,since it is such a small place and hence easier to scan, and maybe I will be accused of prejudice, but I just love the
groups, the blogs, and the profiles of Singapore women. It's not an Asian thing (there are plenty of other Asian countries with more women on the site); but to me, the per capita quality can't be beat, in words or pictures!

I joined this site when I was living in China: hence the odd (and unpronounceable?) handle, which means foreigner in Chinese. Then the government blocked the site (at least where I was living: I still see Chinese people on the site and wonder how they do it.)
So I am back in the US, still not getting laid, but having no idea how to engage people on this site. I have joined some groups, but not really made any friends yet. Probably because I complain too much! If you are in the DC area, reach out, say hello, let's at least start by getting to know one another. Tell me what you are doing here...
