Here is a round up of the things I'm hearing on this Blog and in emails.
Blog Home Page
- "Watched Blogs" list doesn't show date of last post
- "Recent Posts" don't update often enough. It used to be hours, now it's days. This is the main way people keep track of posts and it is pretty much useless as is
- It would be nice for standard members to be able to see an image that a gold member puts into a post
Blog Management
- All these things put a Blog in "Pending" Status: changing a sticky note or settings as to who can read and/or comment, hiding or un-hiding a post, deleting an image. Only changing the image, text or title should put a post back into pending status
- Show LIST of the people who watch your blog
- Collapsable list of blog posts. I loose track of posts I've made and want an easy way to look through them and update
- Like to have the ability to lock a thread
- Have a 3 character minimum text requirement to post. A lot of people spam blogs with one smiley face after another
When you preview your post, it should include the image so that you can get your coding right
- You should be able to turn on and off voting per post, not as an overall setting for the Blog
- The CSS tables are still not lining up right

- A few blog templates would be nice
- Allow external within a post - Idea of a Blessed Blog
- Smaller real estate for voting
Navigation
- Set your own preferences as to what kind of blogs you are interested in reading by topic / Tags
- Show the "Most Watched Blog List" in the drop down menu under the blog section.

5/20 - FIXED
Just wanted to let you know that yes, it's being worked on. The estimated fix time will be Wednesday. I'll update you more when I get more information.
This is the issue where you receive error message "You have been banned from this group" when adding a post or question.
For those of you who keep track or are dealing with customer support on this, the bug number is "INST-304"

Images in Blogs - Now with more pixels

Oh, forgot to mention. I know nobody asked for this, but it was a super simple thing to do. I was having trouble making out some of the images, especially in the latest stick figure contest. So...
Images can now be a max width = 600, max height = 750. Images will auto scale the picture based on the width.
It used to be a max width = 300, max height = 750.

I've been promising dominoxxz that I would get up a blog post on Interest Groups for a few weeks. The purpose of this post is to discuss issues you have or features you would like to see in the Interest Groups. It's a pretty open discussion, so anything goes as long as we all play nice.
I'll eventually link this to the Index, once my coworkers let me have 10 minutes to focus.
I'll start with a few things and update the list as we go:

Allow Events/Meetups to be linked to a Group (coming soon)

Shoo Fakes, part deux

I was trying to sell the $1 confirm ID idea to the man over here and it turned into a conversation about this:
What if you could have new Cupid Settings? What would they be?
I heard this suggestion from a few people (MyHeartLost4U).
We could maybe incorperate some of the ideas we had into this like:
* Turn off Flirts and Invites from X
* Block people from X location from contacting you
-or things like-
* Block members with no picture
* Block members who haven't ever Blogged
* Block members who have a score of 0
What other things would you want to block if you could? What common profiles keeps popping up that you wish you could just block? Remember these would all be optional things you could turn on or off.

The Artistry of Bling

I just had the head of our HTML department ask me, "How are they making the photo-realistic bling?" I showed him the Bling Nation group and the FAQ's on there. He was in awe of the process.
Well a few more people chimed in and we had a few ideas:
1) What if we added a custom palate to the bling application to make it easier for you to use a set of colors when drawing? It would allow you to store samples from photoshop for the duration of your drawing session. That way you wouldn't have to keep going back to each RGB color.
2) What about animated bling? Where you could compose multiple frames and add them together to make a gif. What do you think? Would this be fun or annoying?

Great conversation. Here are some ideas that stood out for me:
- Make reporting easier. Put the 'report for abuse' link back on top of the profile
- Put a 'report for abuse' link on the testimonials area
- $1.00 mail in for member Confirmed ID
- Buttons for Flirts and Invites (On, Match Cupid, Off)
- Get rid of Super Flirt
- Choose just which locations or person's they will accept these things from
- Make the comment field mandatory when making an abuse report

Yeah, I'm tired of people from Ghana too.
I hear, "stop the fakes" all the time so I thought I'd open a discussion around it. What is a fake? What do we do to stop them? So there are two kinds of fakes:
1) Spammers and bots trying to suck you into something.
2) Real people with fake pics, ages, locations.
It's part of the problem with having a site with free registration. Understand that we are the biggest adult site in the world. We get billions of hits a month and are one of the top 50 sites on the web almost every month.
How many fakes do we delete a day?
Our customer service team deletes 5000+ fake accounts every day. That's at least 150,000 accounts a month. Sometimes it's much more.
How do we delete fakes?
We catch the low hanging rotten apples when they sign up. The ones we miss are the ones you see. We also rely on you to tell us who is a fake.
Why do you miss so many?
We keep a close eye on traffic coming into our site. If you hit us hard with bots, we know. The smaller ones we miss. It's very hard for us to spot fake pics and profiles. Our customer service team doesn't know all the porn stars, or even all the hot girls on google image search.
Why are we such jerks when it comes to following up with you?
You report something, then never hear back from us right? It's not because we don't want to tell you. We tag and bag every bad account. We know exactly why we disabled them. The reason we don’t provide a summary of our actions taken with a complaint has to do with protecting the privacy of our members. I think you'll find this is very common on most big websites.
Why don't you tell me when my emails aren't delivered?
If we told you why, you damn spammer, you would know how to tweak your bot to go around us. We lay out the rules up front, but don't tell you which rule you broke. We miss a few, and we block honest emails sometimes. You can always contact customer service and find out why a message was delivered to your bulk email folder.
Can you just block IP addresses?
We do, in very rare cases. It's just not an effective way of blocking someone anymore. IP addresses are as easy to change as your socks.
What's with Ghana?
I'm not sure why we don't just block that place. I assume people would just route through from another country if we did. We just have to deal with it the best we can. That's such a defeatist attitude, but it's the reality. We could probably change the name of Ghana to "Fake."
What are you gonna do to reduce the noise?
Some ideas:
* Don't let standard members without a pic contact women
* Give you the control to turn off Testimonials and Invites
* Giving each pic a unique Affairlook ID, if you ever Save As and paste that pic into another profile we'll know.
What are your ideas? How are spammers contacting you? How do we block them?

I keep getting people telling me I'm full of BS, I suck, I'm not focused on the right things. Actually it's only about 3 of you who keep telling me this, but you're there on every post I make.
So, let's just reset a bit. I'm here to listen and push your feedback up the chain. That includes all the features and bugs on the site.
I care about Kudos. I care about why they were originally built, if they have been successful achieving their purpose, and whether they need to be taken out back and shot. I'm sure you understand that if I ask about your thoughts on Kudos it doesn't mean the issues with Cams get dropped.
Here's a little insight on how the team works:
There is a team of 3 people who do this on about 35 sites. It's me community, AFFeditor and Mollena. Mollena works on ALT and Bondage . com so you won't see her around here. Our biggest communities are Affairlook, ALT.com OutPersonals, Amigos and SeniorFriendFinder. All these sites are built on a similar platform so we see a lot of similar issues. Our core focus is Affairlook.
We then take these things into our execs office and fight the good fight. Sometimes we can get a fix in a day, but sometimes it's baby steps (cams). I wish I could turn things around faster, I really do.
Then I drive my shitty Accord home, put on a wig and a pretty dress, watch looping videos of dancing unicorns and pass out on top of empty pizza boxes at around 3 AM.

It seems like people hate kudos since it is complicated and doesn't seem to make sense.
Any ideas for making Kudos better or more fun? I've been tasked with fixing it. I honestly haven't even figured out how it works yet.

Major Upgrade to Cams - WIN

Update 4/21:
Some said that the volume control missing on broadcasters who had sound turned on. That should be fixed by now. Let me know if you see that issue again.
We've done another update today to try and help with blank screens and improve the ability to have more members connect, especially those with 200+ viewers. Also you'll notice that sometimes when too many people join too fast it won't work, the update should help with that as well.
Any other standard members having trouble with watching one cam, closing it, then not being able to open any other cam?
So remember that brilliant, anti-social and kooky engineer I told you about? He's been working for months on fixing the webcam broadcasting/viewing. He just put all his mad scientist fixes up on the site.
You should:
- Notice a major reduction in the "Member Stopped Broadcasting" message when they are.
- You should be able to connect a lot faster
- The experience should be a lot better
Please, please, please let me know if you experience a difference over the weekend. Try to be specific on the things that still aren't working. I'll send around your feedback to everyone over here.
