27 Dresses

Went to see this movie this afternoon all by myself as my HoneyBunny had work to do and none of my would go along to a "chick flick". As the female lead was modelling the 27 bridesmaids dresses she had in her closet, I had to laugh at the comment made by each of the brides about the bridesmaids dresses, "You can cut it off and wear it again". How many weddings has any female participated in and been told the same thing??? And most of the dresses were hideously unattractive or a putrid color.... Just cracked me up to think that many of us have several of "those" dresses hanging in the back of our closets never to be worn again.....

For me, it's been an interesting week. My #3 has been in & out of the ER with abdominal pain & vomiting. Gotta love feeling helpless when your is sick....It was really difficult for me to sit there and watch him get poked, prodded & scanned to determine a source for his pain. As a nurse, I know the poking, prodding & scanning are necessary but as a Mom, it killed me to see my "baby" laying there in tears while being poked, prodded and scanned. Completely aside from that, I do very poorly with barfing people. I can deal with blood, guts hanging out, bones sticking out and a myriad of other maladies but barf??? Not so much, makes me gag myself.... Thank God for IV Zofran for nausea.... Now I'm trying to catch up on lost sleep....HA, like that'll ever happen...

OK, I'm just about sick of winter. It's not as if the snow isn't bad enough but it's gotta be dumb ass cold, too??? WHY am I still living in Wisconsin? I'm just glad I didn't volunteer for this weekends Boy Scout troop outdoor camping trip. They are going somewhere near Black River Falls and camping...Tonight they'll stay in a cabin but tomorrow night will be outside camping. Yes, they'll be sleeping in tents but still....How many layers will be necessary to not freeze their woo-hoo's off??? Glad I had other plans for the weekend.

Did the sleep study thing last night and it was....Interesting. Got to the sleep study place, got all wired up and the tech told me they'd record about 3 hours of sleep and if I exhibited symptoms of moderate to severe sleep apnea, he'd come in and put CPAP on for 3 hours to see how that goes. Well, I fit into the severe sleep apnea catagory as the tech told me I stopped breathing between 70 & 80 times an hour for at least 10 seconds. SO, did the CPAP thing and only had one episode of apnea in 3 hours. Got home & call my HoneyBunny and math wizard that he is, he did the quick math and said "Ya know, that means you stop breathing for around 15 minutes every hour"..... Gee, somehow that sounds WAY worse than 10 seconds at a time (yeah, I AM leaving out the 70-80 times/hour) So I go see the pulmonologist 1/29/08 to see what I'll be doing. CPAP and weight loss are probably the first orders of business.

I've been told, by reliable sources, that I snore....LOUDLY, at times. When I was at the parents in Nashville, I was shunned to a bedroom with a door that closes. It seems that the first night we were there, I fell asleep on the futon next to my 13 year old while one of my boys slept on the cot & another in the bedroom I was, subsequently, shunned to. My Mom was sleeping on the couch in the living room. I was informed, the next AM, that I kept my Mom awake. I've also been told, by my HoneyBunny, that I stop breathing while I sleep. SO, tonight, I get the pleasure of having a sleep study completed...I'm NOT looking forward to being wired up and sleeping in a strange place but if it answers why I wake up feeling tired and with headaches, then I'll be happy. So...wish me luck...

A simple answer to a complex question

I owe a HUGE thank you to my friend nate for a post he put on my blog the other day. I'd made a post about asking someone a question and not getting a satisfactory answer after numerous requests.

Nate's reply was to consider which was more important, the WHO or the WHAT. For some reason, that really flipped a switch in my little brain and I looked at things (that question) from a completely different angle.

To me, the WHO (my HoneyBunny) is infinitely more important than the WHAT (future plans, marriage, etc). The what will work itself out when it's meant to but the who is already worked out so why sweat the what??

The focus needs to be on us, our relationship, our families and building something together, not what's going to happen 5 years from now.

So, THANKS NATE!!!!!!!

At what point, after numerous requests, do I admit that the things I've requested are NOT going to happen?? And when that point comes, do I give up on wanting those things or keep wanting them and attempt to get them from another source?

Are answers SO difficult to be given and/or explained? I know I have the patience of a boiling teapot but at what point do I expect answers to questions I have??

Well, after a short hiatus, I've returned. The trip to Nashville was FANTASTIC!!! We left Milwaukee on the 26th in the early AM with temps in the teens, landed in Nashville with temps in the 50's and the sun shining brightly. We did the family Christmas that day and really enjoyed watching my 3 year old nephew open his gifts. It was really fun to see how he processed talking to Aunty Linda on the phone to who the real person is. For the first few hours he was busy lumping all three of my boys into one pile; asking "Where are the big boys?" and "Where are the other big boys?" when one or two would be out of his sight. Thursday we went on an adventure to find the grave site of Johnny Cash as my 13 year old is a big Cash fan. We also were able to tour Conway Twitty's home in Hendersonville as well as the Trinity Music City complex. Friday when my brother, sis-in-law & nephew left, the nephew asked my 13 year old "Can't you come home with me?" Pretty cue. On Friday, we all went to The Hermitage, the home of Gen. Andrew Jackson. We were able to tour the main mansion as well as some of the slave quarters. Was very interesting and informative. On Saturday, we ventured into Nashville itself to go to the Tennessee State Museum, the Tennesee State War Museum and the Musicians Hall of Fame. What an AMAZING adventure.... Sunday we all sat around and relaxed.....And today, we flew back to the frozen tundra....OY

Those of you who know me well enough, know I don't DO early mornings well at all and much prefer about 9am to 6 am......I'm a much more pleasant and amenable person at that time of day. SO, the garbage & recycling employees of the city have the GALL to start banging and flinging trash & recycling around in a manner loudly enough to wake me up at the gentle hour of 6:12am. Now, I don't mean to be picky but the city DOES have a noise ordinance that anything after 11pm or before 7am needs to not disturb "normal" sleep/wake cycles....Well, knowing myself and how lightly I sleep some times, I shouldn't bitch but PLEASE....I was SLEEPING.....I just wanna snuggle back into bed and go back to sleep.... Instead, I'm awake and blogging....*grrrrrrrr*

Or, sonofomotherfuckingbitch.....I live in one half of a duplex....Landlord is a pretty OK guy, his wife is nice and funny and kind....So I open my front door this AM to get the Sunday paper and the front porch is like a skating rink.... The gutters are full of frozen liquid so full that they appear to be overflowing...The dripping is sliding down the siding and has lodged itself between my screen door and the solid core front door.....Forming a really pretty array of icicles but making the closing of the front door OR the screen door nigh on to impossible....So, the & I are chipping icicles off the door and sopping up the water and the landlord comes out his front door and asks if any of our WINDOWS are leaking into the house.... Well, I have NO f-ing clue so I race around looking at all of the windows and there are a few leakers...One in the downstaris bathroom, one in my middle sons bedroom...Oh, and there is a puddle on the basement floor....Shit,fuck,damn, Hell....I HATE WINTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With all of our WONDERFUL weather, of late, I've been getting annoying telephone calls from family members who live in TN & SC, giving me LOADS of crap about how WARM it is there..."Had to turn on the AC today", "I'm taking a walk in shorts & a t-shirt"......OK so your weather's great and mine sucks....AND???Just as long as the weather stays nice in Nashville over Xmas, I'll be a happy camper....If the cold & yucky stuff follow me, I'll know God hates me.....
