Getting to the point in this Crazy world we could not get far enough away from the nuts. Ild love to live off grid. Think of the money you save with no electronics bills No cable bill Electric bill Water bill. Sewage bill. Was just saying to build a house boat Then no property taxes other the the land And you can move around as the season roll Around even park it out in the middle of the lake In winter and walk / skate across it to get back to land. There are some many things good yet One would have to be safe what happens if your in trouble I know I can feed myself hunting fishing growing And books that find wild plant life they a good one Your life might depend on it. Then would I be along of with you

I like a simple life but I couldn't live offgrid. Also who'll deliver a pepperoni pizza in the wilderness?!

nice fantasy ... it's a hard life living off the grid .... even those that live in the remote areas of Alaska have access to satellite, snowmobiles, etc. .. no thanks, I'll take my life on the grid ~~~

It is nice to think about but you have to be more self reliant than most of us.

I'm a naturalist and a Montana native. What you describe is damned near a wet dream! I would do that in a heartbeat, and would enjoy your company. When do we leave? LOL

I can only handle off grid living in small doses. Even with the option of spending that time with someone as wonderful as you, I know for a fact the temptation would be too great for me to "disappear". You know...like any episode of Dateline where Keith Morrison gravelly intones "And he was never seen again..." (Cue creepy music)..lol I'm a Concrete Jungle Cat. I need my modern conveniences and such. IF I could live in a cabin with WiFi and Satellite capability then I would be a happy camper. My name is MrWrong and I approved this comment

I can absolutely live off grid. My idea of off grid - I want solar panels so I can power a freezer. In the woods when you obtain meat you want to preserve it. If you have no gas for cooking the occasional electric stove cooking will make canning your fruits and vegetables easier. Off grid is about survival. We have to eat and drink as first need. I could go on for hours on this subject. I have thought and planned a lot, LOL.

author, I am close to this...........

I probably could, but you definitely don’t want the cabin too close to the mountain due to avalanches. And if it gets 40 degrees below zero in the winter we might still be shivering even if we have one hell of a fire going or if we have super hot sex. And I need my dark chocolate and goldfish crackers, lol! Maybe it will just be off the grid once in a while. A naked gridcation! 😎 By the way, the outdoor place I work at is over 200 acres. Funny women are incredibly sexy!

I wouldn't hesitate for a second. Sounds like a dream to me!

Not for me. I prefer electricity, running water, internet, etc.

I live in the current hustle bustle but we each have a nice wooded lot (approx 5 acres) We always "Feel" like we need to go out for one or two items I would love to get out and away from people and some of the "required" conveniences Do we really need to spend the time and effort having a manicured yard. Or do we need to get two frozen meals out and microwave them for dinner? There was a PBS show about an older guy that went up to Canada or Alaska and had planned carefully what he was going to take (he even left the handles off some of his tools because he easily make them when he got there. The family talked him into coming back to "civilization as he got much older and had health issues cropping up. But he did what he wanted and made the decisions needed to survive
