What's your 'status' and what should it be?

I see many people complaining that others misrepresent themselves on this site.
I'm sure that is a common problem with all web based dating and hook-up sites.
I had my status listed as 'single' and was told that is 'wrong'...
I am technically married, though separated and living apart for over 4 years.
In my mind I am single, not 'separated'.
In my mind 'separated' indicates a possibility of going back...
that won't ever happen with me.
What do you think?
Is your status actually indicative of reality?
Or is it misleading?

It gets so complicated trying to make a connection.
Some people look at your age and pass you by...
Some people look at your picture and pass you by...
Some people read your profile and pass you by...
Some people will agree to meet, then never show up...
Some people will 'accept you' and seem to agree with what you want/like...then, when push comes to shove, change their mind...and blame YOU for not changing for them.
Some people meet you, then decide to pass you by...and you wonder,
Was it my looks? personality? age?
Was I too passive, too aggressive?
Did I allow that phone call/text I got on my way to the meeting affect me too much?
But you can't read their minds, and they certainly won't or can't tell you (if they even know).
Everyone has their preferences...I know that not everyone will click.
I was a salesman too long to take it personally, maybe I remind them of someone they dislike or had a problem with...
Some people forget that everyone IS different...being in a similar situation to someone you used to know doesn't mean it will be handled the same way...
So you just suck it up and wait for the next opportunity...and hope it's not a 'Fatal Attraction'...LOL
Have you found that it is harder to meet people than you expected?
