............heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's Johnny
............heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's Johnny i was desperately scanning for somethign to watch late last night when i came across a show called gigolos. it's a reality show although i think we should probably put quotes around reality. five guys in vegas who are servicing a variety of women who just want sex and are willing to pay for it. now the guys, to my mind at least, are not all that attractive. they have decent bodies but i would scan at least three of them as gay on first take and the oldest dude is just kind of creepy with his dyed blond hair and his spray tan. so that left me with one guy who i found even vaguely attractive - Vin. they show them doing it with the ladies and then discussing their various "gigs" and their lifestyle and i sat there for a half hour watching this train wreck.... and that is 30 minutes i will never get back. exactly what demographic is this show targetting? maybe gay men? but then all the jiggly boobs would be a major league turn off. middle age women? i don't really think so but possibly. who? i think it's demographic is smaller than that. i think it's for these five dudes. and then the stray person who gets stuck on a saturday night late flipping channels and finding nothing else in that time slot but bad QVC sales and shows on anorexia. the two blond 60+ sisters on the pool table being simultaneously taken by two gigolos was particularly odd as the voice over explained the difficulties of concentrating on your own "job" while hearing the moans of the other couple and trying not make eye contact with the other in case you lose your boner. how i yearn for johnny carson............. You cannot conceive the many without the one. |

Why would anyone in their right mind pay for sex on top of a pool table? LOL Never ignore those who care for you you will have lost diamonds while you were collecting stones

I think their target demographic is "people who will watch any worthless shit they put on television." Which unfortunately means a whole lot of the American population.

well you spent your 1/2 hour on it, Wicked. Mindless entertainment sometimes is exactly that, mindless and only barely entertaining. I much prefer the high-class entertainment I get here on Affairlook, and it is almost interactive too ... and I only semi-jest. Anymore, I'll get on here once or twice a week and check out what is going on for my friends. Since you've not complained about your sore shoulder any longer, I hope that you'er feeling better there. Can't help much on TV. Chas < who actually DOES own a TV, but who also can't remember the last time it was turned on.

I have to admit I would probably watch something like that in a morbid curiosity kind of way (OK maybe only once). Especially since distracted07 and I had a debate on my blog about why there are hardly any male prostitutes for women (distracted was using it as an argument that it proves men's sex drive is indeed higher - the supply and demand theory).

MB is overseas this week. He called me and had me look up on the net a show they have in one of the eastern block countries. It was like a Russian (pre-fall of communism) beauty pageant. They show the girls in sack like dresses with high heels on the farm doing chores. It was funny, sad and revolting all at once. So its not just a U.S phenom.

I do not have this show...and I think I'm glad. It does sound like a major train-wreck... "All you'll get from strangers is surface pleasantry or indifference. Only someone who loves you will criticize you." - Judith Crist, crack film critic

I actually watched all of the episodes...and yes, I will agree not exactly Emmy winning television. I will also agree about your assessment of the men - especially the older guy (my daughter and her friend actually have a picture with him as they saw him at a club in Vegas). Having said all that, it was kinda interesting. Interesting the women they highlighted on the show. I was fascinated by their reasoning for going to a gigolo, fascinated that they would appear on the show, fascinated by what they requested. The episode where one of the guys saw a woman who got all in touch in with her inner domme and had him in a cock cage for 3 days was particularly funny. I thought "go girl" to the big girl who exposed all and "shame on them" to the men and how they talked about her and her size. There were other moments too, moments that showed these guys and their giant egos, their vulnerabilities, what they dreamed of, what was kicking their ass...you know, life. Holy smokes...I sound like an advertisement for that show. hahaha. I get it. It wasn't great tv. But I found it interesting - something different. And in many ways I found it sad. ps - given that I rarely watch tv and haven't even made it through one episode of True Blood from last season yet, I'm laughing that you talked about the one show that I even can talk about! Always tell the truth Use kind words Keep your promises Giggle and laugh Be positive Love one another Always be grateful Forgiveness is mandatory Try new things Say please and thank you Say your prayers Smile ~Author unknown

"how i yearn for johnny carson............." quoting Wicked Easy WE, did you ever catch the Steve Allen Show? Back in the early 60s(?) we could watch it when we stayed at our grandparent's house (we were sent to bed at a normal time, but Steve Allen came on after the news, and there was a TV in the room that became the kids bedroom). To my mind, that show was the ultimate in sophistication, and humor. Steve Allen was a highly talented fellow; musician, comic, actor, and well read on most fields. A cross between David Frost and Johnny and a bunch of the people who've occupied those late night chairs. Ho Ho Steverino!
