An Incomplete Love-Story

Danny was alone, just sitting by the phone, waiting for it to ring, and hoping that the person on the other end of the line would be pleasant enough to help him break loose from the chains of loneliness and fear that seemed to doom him to despair. He decided to write stories in a blog to pass the time. He wrote about himself a little, and then switched to third-person narratives. One day, when he logged into his blog, there was a comment from a young woman named Chelsea Adams. He was not overjoyed.

It must have been a trick. Probably she was trying to get him to invest his emotional energy in a drain, a black hole, a waste of time. But what if she wasn't? What if she was good and honest? What if not following through became a huge life-altering mistake? What were the obstacles he would face in following though? Was his idea of following through acceptable to her? Would everyone in authority over him also accept his idea of following through? So many questions...and too many variables, especially if he factored in her unknown desires, motives, and the ways she would try to achieve her goals.

But did any of that matter? To him, it was most important not to let go of another unexplored opportunity. He needed this. But all he could do was rack his brain, and try to come up with a real way make his situation better. Maybe there was no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but he just had to take a Hale-Mary shot, if only to keep from making the same mistake again. Because if he did, it would surely launch him into despair for the rest of his life.

~always one of a kind~
