15 years ago today

2nd of July, 2005. Live8. As a music lover I had to enjoy each and every second of that day! Apart from the political idea behind the whole event, I was really interested in the musical aspect. And it had been 20 years since Live Aid...

That day, I got to know quite a few acts and bands I had never heard of until that day. Snow Patrol, Keane, Travis, Razorlight.... And of course quite a few of my 'heroes' played that day: Paul McCartney, U2, The Who, Coldplay and, to top it all off, for the first time in 24 (!) years: Pink Floyd, in their most famous lineup. Also, sadly, the very last time. 3 years later, Richard Wright passed away.

For weeks after the event, I searched the internet for recordings of that day. At least the ones of the bands I really liked. I ended up finding some 5 to 6 hours of music which I burnt on 4 cd's and kept playing and playing for years.

Somehow, I forgot about them. Don't know how, I just got busy listening to other music. But the other day, I found those 4 self made discs again and, oh yessssss, they still worked! From now on I'm gonna play them again for a bit. Enjoying all that wonderful live music again....

Listening to past favorites is always fun. I’m currently hooked on Shinedown and their music after not listening for quite a while

I hope you downloaded those CDs cuz someday you won't be able to play them.

Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

I must admit I was surprised to find them still working after all this time. They're on a hard drive now. And a backup

15 years ago today I was frolicking in the sun at a picnic listening to oldies on someone's portable player. Good thing I did relish this memory cause 60+ days later I would be told I had a killer disease. That music sustained me as the fight began so today I can relish 15 years ago all over again
