I smile when I hear " I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas". Just have to sing along and be happy. Hippos are so cute.
I haven't heard THAT one in a long while... Do they still play it somewhere ? No songs that annoy you ? Thanks for that reminder . . . lol

i knew a few bloggers who were jews, hence they didn't celebrate Christmas...

they said, they ate Chinese on Christmas, as Chinese restaurant won't be closed on Christmas, and went to see movie at theater...suppose it is just a normal day for them...

unfortunately one of them passed a few years ago...and the other one, i haven't heard from him for a long time...

i still thought of them when Christmas time comes...

Been seeing... Grandma got ran over by a Reindeer. Not heard it before, so got Echo to play it. I can now say.... I hate it and hope to never hear it again.

I love... Feed the world, even if it makes me cry every time. Another one is....Silent Night. Huge tears appear, as I remember hearing my grandparents singing it in Poilsh when I was a child.

Favorite Christmas song..."Santa Baby" by Eartha Kitt...it makes me want to be naughty, lol.

I'm sure there is a Christmas song I don't like, or, really, someone's version of it...but I can't think what it might be. Oh...I don't care for that "Mary Did you Know" one...

I do tend to read A LOT. Mostly what I read is drivel, so I don't really learn many new words...and I don't think I learned any new ones today...I played with a toddler, and she didn't teach me any new words, lol.

That's funny ... I haven't heard THAT one in years . . .I'll have to revisit it so I can share your anguish . . lol . . .
Silent Night is a good one. Your parents were Polish and mine were Ukrainian . .. and I know the Ukrainian version . . I can relate to that one ! Yes ...
Hey... thanks for sharing . . The cribbage game is going on in the back room. Wanna play teams ?

Santa Baby - definitely a classic... Oooo and go figure - Mary Did You KNow - is on other people's favorites list . . Hmmm ... There you go. Everyone on this planet has a set of different tastes ... right ?
I'm going to mess around and try and include a new word every time I post a new blog . . We'll see. At the very least I'll learn a new word. Thanks for popping in . . . Like I've mentioned ... It might be late for a cocktail, but the sweet table is still open . . Care for a piece of Black Forest Cake ?

I developed a love for words and the English language at a very young age and became a crossword puzzle and the 'word power' quiz in Reader's Digest junkie. I also read voraciously and continue to check-out 10-12 books with each trip to the library. So yes....I was familiar with the 'new' words in your story.
Christmas songs like 'Merry Christmas Darling", 'I'll Be Home for Christmas' and 'White Christmas' are amongst my favourites. However the one that 'gets' to me each and every time is 'O Holy Night' sung by a tenor in church. Tears are shed unashamedly.

I've often wished that radio stations would have a Christmas Carol version contest.....instead of playing one version (Springsteen's Santa Claus is coming to Town ..... shudder) follow it with someone else's version and let listeners vote.

I collected several off beat songs and make a CD for friends called Christmas on Mars and other songs you won't hear on the radio.

and Yes, I knew all those words.
Hi... I just noticed that you embedded a link to imdb for Christmas on Mars... Hmmm Thanks. Sorry for not noticing before.. I'll look into it! Have a happy Friday and a great and safe and happy Christmas! 🎁🎄⛄🎅😊

I knew all of those words! But am impressed with FrankeeZee's vocabulary.

My favorite Christmas song (which is actually not really a Christmas song but more of a winter song) is "Snow Day" by Trip Shakespeare. It's kind of a cult favorite where I live.

Wow. You're smart... 😶 There was one word there that was new for me... (that p word ). FrankeeZee is weird, considering his gutter mouth.
Love that eclectic selection... Such a bluesy vibe to that song.. and great background vocals... Yep. I could listen to that one. I won't even ask WHERE you found that song ...? 😁
Thanks for sharing. I picked up a new group to search out and listen to. 😊🎵🎙️🎹

>>I won't even ask WHERE you found that song ...? 😁

Trip Shakespeare was a Twin Cities band during the late 80's/early 90's. They had some weird and quirky songs (another one was "Toolmaster of Brainerd" which was about the guy who maintained the machinery at the Buckeye Creamery). I really liked them.

One of the Trip Shakespeare members, John Munson, is now in a band called The New Standards - they do jazz versions of different pop/rock songs. The New Standards put on a huge holiday concert every year, and the finale is always the song Snow Days, complete with snow falling from the ceiling.
