Also, with the holidays just around the corner, people have to take into consideration of holly (berries and leaves), poinsettia (whole plant), and mistletoe (berries and leaves). All three are toxic, though mistletoe is generally hung up high and out of reach. Most often mistletoe is sold already dried, but still will have active toxins.

Poinsettias are in abundance at grocery stores during mid November through to the end of the year, and most people will use them as dining table deco. As most any cat owner can attest, a dining table filled with good smelling food is enough to temp any cat. Or dog.

Plants are often eaten by both to quell an upset stomach, so if the cat or dog helps themselves to too much of a good thing on the table before their human catches them, they might go for the berries and/or leaves of the toxic centerpiece next.

A word of caution to keep these types of live plant out of reach, and opt for the plastic deco on the table instead.

true those things are toxic as well and i used to bring that into the house years ago and never gave it any thought ..I have a ton of holly growing around my property and ppl are always stopping and picking it without even asking me ..I dont mind sharing but when i go for it that most generally is all cleaned out...I even roped off the area and put up a sign ..they waited till i was gone and went in..humans ! I am lucky Kodi my cat does not eat anything off the table hes sticking to his dry and canned food so thats a good thing...

I see two missing that I know of from your list, one Ryu listed, another tho lesser known. The cute little trees found as Christmas rolls near, the Norfolk island Pine. I learned this one forty yrs ago, when we got one cuz our apt was so tiny that was the only size tree we could have. Our cat didnt die, but became very sick & our vet thru quick action managed to pull her thru. Also, most trees used as live christmas trees are toxic to cats, OR needles they cannot resist can become lodged in their throats. Even some fake trees have THAT risk. Beware, and how in hell do cats live in the wild with so many toxic plants??

I didnt make the list The ASPCA just made a short list of common plants that ppl have in their homes today that are toxic..the number of plants toxic or deadly to animals in general are over 700 these are just common ones today ...I dont have a Xmas tree per se I have a lighted artificial bare branches what looks like a birch tree with no fanfare ..my cats used to destroy and un trim all trees that i had so i stopped getting Xmas trees..lol

Earlier message was meant to read I can barely look after myself, not nearly, lol. I dont have any pets because they need time to be cared for and I'm quite a busy person. I hate those people that get pets and then neglect them. I definitely don't want to be like that, so would only get a pet when I know I can care for it. Love your pic by the way. Can you turn over for me please? X
