How would you want it? update on Anenigma517 Inspired by mzhunyhole [post 200155] She posed a very, very interesting question in her blog...and I asked in my comment did she want an ugly truth or a pretty lie. This isn't about her question...or her post. My dad used to say this all the time. Do you want an ugly truth....or....A pretty lie? I gave an ugly truth...an ugly truth in my opinion...not someone elses or based on what the majority felt...but my opinion of the question at hand and in no way shape or form do I or did I mean or intend any disrespect to anyone..and I do not want that misconstrued. Ok. I just gave a comment based on the truth as I see it..to a question that was put out there for all to answer or not. Does it depend on the question? Does it depend on the person asking the question? Do you give the ugly truth or do you give a pretty lie...or maybe what you think they'd want to hear? Does it depend on what you will get out of it? Does it matter to you what other people think if you do give a painfully ugly truth...cuz sometimes the truth is ugly..ain't it? As for me... and possibly many of you pondering these questions. I have to say I've done both...for various reasons. Can't say either way which I've done more of...but I have been known by my family and friends...to "say it like it is". Sometimes though...I don't say it "gentle" enough...at times when I should have...especially if I'm telling someone the ugly truth. Pretty lies... Maybe I didn't want to hurt someones feelings, especially someone I might not know very well or maybe someone I love very much...or maybe I would be showered with praise or other attention....if I answered with a pretty lie. Maybe I just didn't have any good answer either way...and so said or thought..screw it.. this is what they want to hear...this is what they are fishing for. When we ask a question..do we want truth..ugly as it may be or do we want to hear a pretty lie? Hearing it said to you...is a of a different color now isn't it? So...ugly truth..pretty lie? How do you want it? Hey...Good news! I've just finished talking with GOTD just a few minutes ago.. right now as I type this to you...it's 4 : 10 am... 01/14/06 Saturday morning... Tucson, AZ. Ugly truth...pretty lie; one hurts briefly, the other, the pain drags out slowly. It's deception by another person and by yourself..and deep down YOU know it's a deception, you just don't want to face it. Tell me the ugly truth, let me get over it and move on.
