for being different . . . a dark Halloween poem

There was fear
in his heart 
he could feel 
his blood boiling 
beneath the skin 
for he lived 
in a world 
that sent him 
into hell 
he could feel 
the flesh 
from his bones 
burn
charcoal black 
crumbling 
from his body 
his bones 
shattering 
cracking 
before his eyes 
as he drifted 
into death 
he had been 
burned 
at the stake 
for being 
different 
from those 
the world 
around him
