Home School Hell The governor has decided the best thing for the is allow them do learning from home the rest of the year. Fan-freaking-tastic!! Like, getting them do their homework wasn't ALREADY bad enough, now I have make sure they are actually DOING the online learning. I feel a love / hate relationship already in the making. I took both phones away this morning until both logged on and enrolled in their courses, making sure to review for any assignments that are already assigned / due in said classes. The only assignment that was actually due was one for ME. Good God.... So, this is how it's going to be. I get to work all week, monitor the to ensure they are doing their work, and fuck around with stupid questionnaires about whether or not I have internet or a basic knowledge of the concepts the math teacher is teaching. Thankfully it turned out to be a relatively nice day today... So the Spawn and I decided to go for a walk. It felt SO good to get out into the sunshine today... We aren't allowed to do much anymore so we ended up passing a zillion other walkers on the walking path. Everyone practiced their social distancing, keeping to the opposite side of the path and only exchanging a brief hello or smile as we passed. I made sure to keep the Spawn on the super outside of the path while she attempted to teach me Tic Toc dance moves and tell me about how I looked like a "Middle Aged Rich Speed Walker." WTF??? I was in the middle of asking her what the hell she was talking about when my phone started buzzing. Glancing at it expecting to see a text, I saw nothing, and kept talking. It buzzed again. This time I looked a little more closely. Still not seeing anything, I assumed it was my endomondo telling me we had made the mile mark and kept walking. Again, it buzzed. "What the fuck is happening with my phone?" I pulled it back out, unlocked it, and saw the Faceplace indicator in the upper left hand corner. Touching on it, expecting to see someone had liked a post or commented, I was startled to see it was an indicator telling me 6 guys had reviewed my dating profile and liked it. "What the hell?? Why is my phone telling me MEN are reviewing my DATING profile??" "I set it up for you." "Why would you do that??" "You need something besides me to focus on. You're already over the top about this school thing and it's only day one. I have an image, you know." "An image? You're ! The only image I want see out of you is the image of a good student." I know that one day I'll probably laugh about this, but right now, I'm kind of mad at her. On a positive note, we did manage get a 2.65 mile walk in, spent 1 hour and 10 minutes in the sun, and I got the satisfaction of watching her fall through the crusty snow into an icy puddle on the way back to the apartment. I told her it was Karma for the dating profile thing. We got a pretty good laugh out of it. |

It's a screwed up situation with the schooling online. I agree with you and most everyone that this shot they call math now a days is ridiculous. The dating thing your Daughter did for you... Lol

My suggestion meaning ...virtual groups. Just as they are distant learning from/with a teacher....they take that google or zoom address into the classroom of another adult. Thought it was widely known that foreign germs should not be fraternizing ~~

Every parent who is home schooling at the moment has my utmost respect! And your daughter is a bit of a genius, she must have good jeans.........no, wait, genes!!

This had me laughing! Your Spawn is such a hoot! And a handful. lol That's bullshit with the "concepts the math teacher is teaching". There was nothing wrong with math before, not sure why they felt the need to change it. Other than to make it make it more difficult.

i fear this is going to happen in a lot of states. This year is a wash....and will have far reaching repercussions. I have suggested to other parents to have group lessons or swap learning days with others, so that the responsibility is split up between a small group of parents. Spawn may listen/learn differently to her friends parents and vice versa. Families have got to be supportive/cooperative/creative to get thru this. Good Luck ~~ cant wait for the nice weather here to get out an do some walking....

Thank you for the wonderful reminder of why i never wanted nor had kids. though i give you thumbs up for doing a good job at raising the next generation of youth. i couldnt do it.
