I'm gonna sit right here..
I'm gonna sit right here.. And bemoan the fact that I'm no spring chicken anymore. I went to see Luke Bryan last night with some of the women I work with. It was a great time, great people, great show. Today, they are hopping around like its just another day. My ass is dragging though. It's not the hungover drag, it's the I'm a middle aged woman and I just can't stay out late anymore. I'm glad they asked me to go. I'm not a huge country music fan, but the song Drink A Beer stopped my heart the first time I ever heard it. My love of that song led me to the discovery of the rest of his music, and I love it. That particular song about dealing with loss, something I know well. Something a lot of people know well, it's a song that probably brings a lost loved one to the mind of anyone who hears it. There are times that I just need to walk away, I don't want to go home, I don't understand any of this, but there are spots that I feel his presence, those are spots I treasure, and I don't share their locations. I just take a little cooler and I go there. When I got the news today I didn't know what to say. So I just hung up the phone. I took a walk to clear my head, This is where the walking led Can't believe you're really gone Don't feel like going home So I'm gonna sit right here On the edge of this pier Watch the sunset disappear And drink a beer Funny how the good ones go Too soon, but the good Lord knows The reasons why, I guess Sometimes the greater plan Is kinda hard to understand Right now it don't make sense I can't make it all make sense So I'm gonna sit right here On the edge of this pier Watch the sunset disappear And drink a beer So long my friend Until we meet again I'll remember you And all the times that we used to... ... sit right here on the edge of this pier And watch the sunset disappear And drink a beer Drink a beer, Drink a beer. Yeah |

I've read your blogs and you sound as though you have some built in resiliency due to a broken home and not having the typical childhood. Dad sounds like he double dutied the parent role well and too bad about mom, but I'd bet she suffers her decisions every day- unable to cope. The youngest of three, and my parents divorced my freshman year of college. Dad remarried and gave us a great little brother, then got divorced again. He eventually found the real love in his life only to lose her to cancer a short couple years later. Now he lives with a lady at least 7-8 years my junior- more power to him. At 78 he is still an active participant in life, and I keep him up late all the time! Mom remarried once, got divorced then lived with a man nearly 8 years then realized the demands he made of her were beyond her comfort level and separated herself from that at least 20 yrs. ago. She now lives in Cleveland and runs round the country in her RV and still rides a Can-Am spider at the ripening age of 82. What I want to relate to you here is that maybe in the 50's, even 60's you could have complained about "getting old" in your mid forties, but this is 2016 and we live longer on average. You might have only made it half way thus far so maybe you need a change to refresh your attitude. When I was your age I rode my motorcycle across the border at Niagara Falls and continued west through Canada until I reached the Arctic Ocean at Deadhorse, Alaska. What the hell would you do there when you have 22 hrs. of daylight- sleep? I think not, plenty of time later for that, and if there IS an afterlife, your loved ones are up there cheering you on! You surely don't appear to look all worn out yet... So, dear don't be making that cute derrier get flattend out by just sittin' on it. It can't be explained why you have been given your current situation but take advantage of it. It may be in your cards that something big is yet to happen and you need to be ready to accept it! I mean Geez, you could be modeling panties for Fredericks' selling those angel wings to girls half your age.

"Old" ? Seriously ? My lady , in our age we can drink these youngsters under the table ! And go jogging the next day to clear our minds ! And you in that body feel beat up ? Just read what that fellow "onefoxtrack" or something wrote up there Nice song btw - but my losses like that were not faced drinking a beer and watching. They weere faced howling at the moon and driving - sober as a judge - to faraway places to attend Funeral or Memorial services THEN we had a beer - or a nickel on the grass With our peers Cheers ! P
