Farewell To Steve The Cat Probably not the right place to be talking about this, but need to get it out of my system, so hope no one minds. Our cat Steve died last night. He was 18 years old. We've had Steve since March of 1999. We got him through a pet adoption agency. Our , who was four then, picked him out and named him Steve after the host of the 's show Blue's Clues (her favorite show at the time). Steve was a real "people cat". He'd jump up in anyone's lap to be petted, and he would meet us at the door when we came home from school or work. We used to joke that he was really a in a cat costume. My personal favorite memory was when he would jump up on the dining room table to keep me company when I balanced the check book every month. There's already a void in the house that's impossible to ignore or miss. Sixteen and a half years is a long time. It's especially tough on the . As I mentioned, our was 4 years old when we got him. Our was only 18 months old. They really don't know what life is like without him. What's important now is for my wife and I to be strong for them for as long as it takes.
