Saying Nice Things About Me A Poem

I wonder about the nice things
He says about me
Does he really mean them?
Or is it just him being polite?
Something he was taught
And is now a habit
And automatic.

I say thank you
And compliment him back
It is just what I have learnt
How I now act.

When we speak about
More personal subjects
When we start to discuss
Our thoughts and feelings
I am sure someone
With his polite mentality
Will be as equally compassionate.
It is what I have gathered
What I indeed imagine.

It sure beats talking
To someone with no manners
A neanderthal like jerk
Who seemingly does not know
What a compliment is
Or if he does
He does not use them
For some unbeknownst reason.
