Still In The Picture. A Poem

I have to give him credit
He still makes attempts
He hasn't given up yet
He sees me still
In a positive light.

It's been one reason
After the other
Some would have said
They were just excuses
And said Sayonara.
But he has stayed
In the picture
Albeit the background.

Perhaps I should look
At it another way
He could have made it
More about being friends
Instead of thinking
Only of the endgame
Of a roll in the hay.

He's just another guy
With the same agenda
He wants a sexual partner
Without too much bother.

Maybe I should tell him
Once and for all
That I won't be her?
I deserve better.
I have had my share
Of<b> fuck buddies
</font></b>And the sex
Never measures up
To that of a lover.
