The Orchid

I gazed upon this beautiful flower, this orchid. Its petals were closed, but its beauty still apparent. It was a dark rosy brown, tan at the edges, with a promise of brighter color within. The Orchid was an elongated oval.

Its texture was both velvety and crinkly. The outer petals were closed now, like a night blooming exotic flower.

There was a faint scent, delicate, but rich and enticing. Its aroma was of the ocean, the jungle, of life and the future.

It was the most wonderful scent I had ever inhaled.

Its crown was a tuft of fuzz, a downy cap, a soft jungle thicket. I longed to run my fingers through it, to stroke the dormant flower, awakening it.

But I resisted. For now at least, I was content just to feast my eyes upon its details.

The heart of the flower was like a furrow waiting to be plowed open. I leaned closer blowing gently on it. Starting at the base, moving up the petals and then ruffling the thatched crown.

I thought I saw it tremble. Yes! A tiny contraction ran up the orchid and with a shift, the seam opened slightly.

The Orchid seemed to be calling me closer now, sweet, spicy and powerful, an intoxicant brimming with power. It penetrated directly into my brain. I wanted to lose myself in it, but again I resisted.

The throat of the Orchid was open now. The entrance glowed with an ethereal light. Its soft, rosy, coral pink color was luminous.

It glistened with the hint of moisture; dew sprinkled on its engorged outer petals, while the inner were taut.

At the apex of the furrow, a knot stood out, hooding a secret treasure begging to be explored. I felt myself responding on some primal level.

This image and scent were hard wired into my DNA. I longed to bury my face deep within the Orchid’s beauty, use my nose and tongue to explore its recesses and crevasses, to unearth its hidden jewels.

This beauty had definitely awakened now. Part flower, part animal, it pulsed and throbbed, contracting and seeking.

It's nectar was intoxicating, some inner spring feed it's moisture as it seeped ambrosia.

Perhaps it was an exotic carnivorous plant, seeking to devour its prey, to draw sustenance from its visitor.

Its hypnotic power was full of life though, not death, creation, not destruction. This succulent thing created by God, was one of his crowning achievements.

My vision narrowed, my focus totally on the Orchid. Its open channel was a slick, pink path to heaven. The hooded apex had retracted and a pearly nub stood proud, pulsating, full of life.

My destiny was now clear. I was unable to resist.

My fingers moved up to either side as I gently stretched the petals outward, opening the flower further. I lowered my face down and gave myself up to her power.

This was where I longed to be, this is where I belonged.

You're still erotic and seductive as ever - you take my breath away. I've missed you.
