Once upon a time in Asheville

Once upon a time in Asheville Asheville NC, despite it's reputation for renaissance, is still a very conservative small town at heart. The churches far outnumber the bars, and swinging is largely an underground railroad of sorts. Yet, despite that, for just a brief moment, there was a swinger club in Asheville. We heard about the Blu Lounge through some friends of ours and the wife and I decided to check it out. The first weekend we went and the place was pretty dead, there were a few other couples there and we had a drink or two. It was a regular bar, and there were folks there that knew nothing about swingers and the lifestylers there were asked to wear bracelets to identify them as such. It wasn't a bad place, had a small dance area, a full bar and a place upstairs with a balcony and a room with couches and tinted windows for more adult mingles. We enjoyed it and decided to go back. The next weekend we went and the place was completely packed out. We were pretty excited about the showing and met several couples we were fairly interested in. About halfway through the night, these two dumb ass couples end up on the balcony in front of god and everybody fucking. The regular bar patrons who had no idea they were in a swinger club were understandably shocked, apparently the local police had some undercover agents there that witnessed it as well and by the next weekend, the Blu Lounge had been shut down and the incident was the big feature for the local news. Two couples managed to completely screw it up for everyone else by simply not taking their activities ten feet down the balcony to the tinted window room. It was a fucking tragedy and Asheville lost it's one and only swinger club to pure stupidity. {=} |

What's funny, we had just bought an ex-cop car, a white crown vic that we were driving at the time and we think folks thought we were the undercover cops there that night lol. Sigh. If there's ever an opportunity for someone in the Asheville area to open another swinger or at least lifestyle friendly club, you certainly would have our support. I think if the rules had been made clear and enforced, Asheville would still have a place for swingers to meet and greet, it's long overdue and alot of folks would support another effort. {=}

I often have weird ideas but how about opening one in the Biltmore Estate?? You could use those secret passageways to get to the private rooms. Wouldn't Asheville have an heart attack  (Virtual Symposium Group) use Virtual Symposium Group

Yeah this town would definitely shit itself over that lol. There likely would have been alot more fallout over the Blu Lounge, but rumor had it that a local district court judge was a regular attendee there so the story vanished pretty quickly. It was really disappointing to see it get shut down, as it was starting to become really popular. The closest on premise club to asheville now that we know of is the Carolina Friends one in Charlotte, we're members but we've never been. It's over a two hour drive and isn't cheap  {=}

And that's why most swinger clubs are byob... What a shame, I travel to Asheville regularly and would have loved to have checked it out.

If you go to the Biltmore Estate and check out the basement, it's a place where swinging activities were at least thought about but more than likely happened.
