Theory of Creativity (or Why I Don't Respond to Some Emails)

Everyone has received those one line emails that in no way inspire a response. Hi is fine for the instant messenger, but an email should include some thought. When the profile is also only one line, there is no reason to go further. Without an idea of who you are about to talk with and potentially meet, how can you determine whether that person will be of any interest or worth the effort?

That being said, there have been worse emails, too. One email only had the attached picture of a man's penis. Others go with wana fuk or similarly semi-coherent requests. I'm wondering if any woman anywhere in the world would respond positively to such an email. And you know those are some of the most vocal men with regards to never getting a response to an email.

And then there is the other group. They fill out what seems like a form letter, though they differ in length, that comes across as a spam they are sending out to all of the women in the area. The longer ones can be more deceptive, though receiving the same extensive email is more comical than anything else on this site. I've chosen an example of a shorter email as my focus for today's blog.

I won't mention his name, but this is the chosen message.

Hello there nice profile . It seems we are into the same things . I think we may just get along . I would love to find out . If you agree a wanna chat let me know .

Not a bad message, but obviously generic. Not mentioning what we have in common is always a good marker for a spam styled message. Same with no mention about what he likes about the profile. As it wasn't crafted for me, I didn't respond. I don't have a generic response for people who give a generic introduction just yet.

The humor in these messages is when they come multiple times. I received the message above, along with the sender's picture on April 3. Then April 12. And again today, on April 22. How does one respond?

Being the sarcastic darling that I am (Belle of the Sarcasm Ball twenty years and running), my response was a simple. “Third time's a charm.” Oh, and posting about the limited creativity of the men I have encountered here.

Some men are extraordinary, and I'll give them credit where credit is due, but these ones will nibble at what frayed bits of civility still exist in my character. I'll probably set up an automated response to address them. Something along the lines of, please choose the category that corresponds to your email for your response. It only seems fair that lack of creativity should be met with only slightly more effort.

First off.. I am sorry I sent you that pic..

Secondly, it does take time to remove (Fill in Her Name) with your name.. Miss DebLuves 2fck...
I never know where to break it into the first and last name of the form.. so there IS some effort in what I'm doing here.

Third.. if you don't respond to my constant emails I will begin to send you messages calling you names and reminding you of what you are missing..

Good day, Ma'am...

I SAID GOOD DAY!

I had a football coach years ago who used to say, "If you don't put in the effort, you don't get the rewards." It's really the same on here. Guys don't understand that women on this site get bombarded with e-mails because if we see one or two a month, we're doing well.

As a guy you have to make your e-mails or replies stand out from the herd. All you have to do is put a little thought into it.

Save a horse, ride a cowboy!!
