If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, You could miss it.” ~ Ferris Bueller ~ ..........Greetings and Salutations!.......It’s only Tuesday, but it already feels like Thursday,.........As I was working today,.......The Special Music turned to eleven,........just trying to make it through the day,.......Putting up a flight of stairs in the new addition of a house,........This required some heavy lifting on my part,......Fear Not,.......Everything turned out good, the stairs are up, the knee wall is framed,........And it’s ready for Sheetrock and spackle tomorrow,.......Once the stairs were up I fell back to painting the master bedroom,........Which always allows me time to think,......... Which really is Never a Good Thing. So I got to thinking. Do you suppose that your life flashes before your eyes at the moment that you pass? I’ve read several<b> medical </font></b>texts that state that the brain releases a powerfully euphoric chemical called DMT to calm the body and ease it into the sweet-by-and-by. It then takes the brain between seven and ten minutes to die. Could those seven to ten minutes of euphoria actually be your life flashing before your eyes? Personally I don’t give a shit either way, because by the time I find out the answer to that riddle it’ll be too late to share with you. And as the drunken poet/lariat Charles Bukowski said, “There’s nothing worse than too late.” Irregardless, it got me thinking on this whole “life flashing before your eyes” thing. When I was a pup up until I was probably in my mid twenties, I thought that the idea was kinda cool. I mean, at the time, I was young and strong and every night was a Saturday Night. And like Jim Morrison along with most of the rest of us, I figured I was already living fast, dying young didn’t seem so bad, mainly because I’d be a good looking corpse. One last Hurrah before eternity then! See the whole party over again for nostalgia maybe. Then that Bitch’s Bastard known as “Real Life” gets it’s teeth into you. Then that Master known as “Time” get’s behind you. And that King Hell Bummer known as the “Real World” has it’s way with you. Life doesn’t exactly go the way that you thought it would. Your trajectory falls Way short of even your High School guidance councilor’s expectations, let alone your own. You begin to get Jaded. Ugly things happen to me, you, everyone. Not to mention those really, really Ugly Moments of your adult life that happen to You. Just as they happen to us all. Bad things you did, bad things done to you by others, along with the bad things that you bore Witness to but were unable to stop. So, the more that I’m thinking about it now, the more I’m starting to see this whole “life flashing before your eyes” phenomenon in a somewhat different light. I mean, Sweet Lucifer’s Halo! Didn’t I just get finished dying? I’m fairly sure that just going through Dying is Somewhat Traumatic enough, even with the massive does of DMT flooding my system. Plus, I just got done living through the whole sordid affair, now you want me to go through the whole thing over again? You must be shitting me? Right? Can’t a motherfucker get a little breather before receiving a forced retrospective on their life’s very few highs, along with it’s many, many lows. Why oh why would I need to see that whole disaster show all over again? What, for Posterity’s Sake? Not only am I sitting that one out, I’m calling bullshit on it too. Just pitch my ass right down into Hell, like a bowling ball. You know, in retrospect, maybe I should have opened a couple windows in that house while I was painting. I didn’t think that the fumes were that bad. I may have been wrong. Ahhhh Well, ramble over, Great Satan’s Pitchfork! Am I making Any sense at All? Maybe it really doesn’t matter. Maybe None of this Matters. Maybe there is no higher purpose. Maybe there is no higher power. Maybe we should start to care a little bit more for one another. Maybe we should all try and be better human beings. Maybe all that matters is Now. Maybe this smoke is as strong as Jawbreaker said. Well, that sure is a Poetic Notion. At least for Me it is. You made perfect sense to those of us who know how to read between the lines. Never color between them. Always around them. It is what makes life interesting. I will be heading to wherever I lay down my head for the evening for that will always be home. Be careful on those stairs...You may not want to trip up them... It might trigger an upward motion... A man at the top of a beautifully finished stairway is very hot 🔥 At my former house, the stairway was carpeted. It was a pain in the ass to vacuum, so when I was replacing my carpeting with laminate flooring I had the brilliant idea of removing the carpet from the stairs as well. Problem was - it was particle board underneath. And the laminate installers said it would be mucho expensivo to try to put laminate on top. So my ex volunteered to rebuild the stairs with nice wood. OMG you never heard so much swearing #$^%$X)& There was also a lot of scrap wood pieces from parts that he didn't get measured exactly right. Long winded way of saying, I know how much skill that takes.

I love the photo. You are a handy man. Your writing is very thoughtful and thought provoking. Any post that mentions Charles Bukowski should be. LOL The dude abided. Okay that is not a proper word but you know what I mean. He was cool. A stairway to heaven and a highway to hell ..I think some of the folks might be in the wrong boat..oops wrong transportation mode. As to your ranting...it does a mind good...
