-|- HNW -|- Slaughterhouse Five -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- WELCOME TO THE SINNERS CLUB -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- ~ "The British Mathematician Stephen Hawking, in his 1988 best seller "A Brief History of Time", found it tantalizing that we could not remember the future. But remembering the future is 's play for me now. I know what will become of my helpless, trusting babies because they are grown-ups now. I know how my close friends will end up because so many of them are retired or dead now. Mary O'Hare is a widow now. I know what will happen to a divided Germany and to a monolithic Sovet Union because one has been reunited and the other has fallen to pieces now, and on and on. To Stephen Hawking and all others than myself I say, "Be patient. Your future will soon come to you and lie down at your feet like a who knows and loves you no matter what you are." ~ From the Preface to the 25th Anniversary Edition of "Slaughterhouse Five" By Kurt Vonnegut. -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- SLAUGHTERHOUSE FIVE, OR THE 'S CRUSADE -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- -|- .........Being a Huge Fan of the printed word, It's always Nice to be able to Curl Up with a Good ,.....Whether it's Fiction or Non, Literature, Journalism, History, Biography, or Poetry. There are few things as Relaxing as having some Time to ,.....And having a Good to it With,...... .........Kurt Vonnegut's "Slaughterhouse Five" is a "Novel somewhat in the telegraphic schizophrenic manner of tales of the planet Tralfamadore, where the flying saucers come from." It also tells the story of the fire bombing of the German city of Dresden "The Florence of the Elbe," during the Second World War, as witnessed by the author, while a prisoner of war, as well as telling the tale of Poor Old Billy Pilgrim, a man who has become "Unstuck" in time,...... .........Like all Great Novels, "Slaughterhouse Five" has Always given Me something that Only the Truly Great Ones can,.....That Rarest of All Commodities,.....Hope,.....And because of This, I count it among the Classic Novels of the Twentieth Century,.....Along with Steinbeck's "East of Eden" Hemingway's "For Whom the Bell Tolls" Marquez's "One Hundred Years of Solitude" and Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby"...... ........."Slaughterhouse Five" is probably the Best Anti-War novel Ever Written,.....Joseph Heller's "Catch 22" stands a Close Second,.....And Definetly One of the Best novels written about World War Two,.....Followed Closely by Irwin Shaw's "The Lions" and Norman Mailer's "The Naked and the Dead".....So,.....If you're itching for a Good Read, and You haven't Already,.....Give "Slaughterhouse Five" a Go,.....I Promise, You Won't be Disappointed,...... It's refreshing to actually find a hot as sin (yes that was on purpose) guy with a brain that actually enjoys reading. I know exercise and being in shape is important (well round for me is a shape haha but this is not entirely all my fault and hopefully the next few years will help out since things are changing) but most guys like you appearance-wise are content to be all about looks and can't be bothered with books. You are a definitely a rare one. I sent an Angel to watch over you last night, it returned in a hurry. I asked why, it said "Angels can't watch porn." Thanks for fucking traumatizing my fucking Angel! Don't bother trying to figure me out. Not even the little voices in my head understand me. It's pointless!

I have to admit that I have to be in the mood to read a book. It tends to come and go but once I start to read a book I have trouble putting it down. The last novel I started, I read it in 24 hours. I curled up on the lounge with it and read all day then took it to bed with the intention of just finishing the chapter but I just couldn't put it down and I finished it at about 5.30am. Linda xxx

Love this book! Especially Billy Pilgrim! In a certain degree, he was able to regain control of his own dignity that he lacked throughout his entire life by awaiting his own death calmly and without fear.

For someone who reads a lot... that's one book I've overlooked, thanks for the rec but you know I'm going to have to hold you... personally responsible if I don't like it... or even if I do! And in return, I give you Andrew Vachss. If you haven't read him already, especially his Burke series. He's easy to find online... he does a lot of good things for kids, and he's got an eyepatch! Arrr Happy Humpday!
