When I first heard the description of a Merkin.

Now for the vagina is not the only way

Turns out there was a serious need for these pubic or crotch wigs back in the day.

Among other reasons, they used to shave off all the pubic hair as a cure for syphilis, so the well-to-do used wigs.

One of the more recent uses is to allow exotic dancers to comply with local laws prohibiting full nudity. They wear what amounts to a flesh-colored panty with hair on the front, appearing to the patrons of the establishment to disrobe completely without actually doing so.

Merkin is also used to refer to a male sex-toy in the humorous novels of Tom Sharpe. Both the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary and The Joy of Sex define the Merkin as an artificial vagina.

In Europe, "Merkin" has also been used as a colloquial term for an American since the 1960s. (Although it is usually pronounced as "murrakin.")

In gay slang, a merkin means the "official" male companion of a closeted female homosexual used to help allay suspicion that she is a lesbian (i.e., the male equivalent of a beard)

And it now seems that it has become somewhat of a fun, sexy, playful thing as can be seen in the picture. Hmmm, does that woman have a heart-on?

I was told of a woman who shaved her pussy in the shape of a heart and dyed it red for Valentine's Day. Anyone ever done anything like that? What did you do?

 I saw some program years ago about the use of these wigs and had forgot all about it! Pretty cool!

I've shaved my pussy, but not in any special shape - just a clean shave. I love that some folks are creative and do more than just the clean shave - they keep things interesting and playful!
