Normal?

When 80% of people do something it is normal, by definition. The norm is the usual behavior. Used to be most men smoked cigarettes, now in California only about 20% do. So the normal thing is not to smoke. Back in the seventies maybe 40% of high school smoked marijuana. Now a lower percentage do. Is is normal to experiment with grass in high school? I think so.

By age 19 most men and women are no longer sexual virgins. So sexual behavior is normal for teens and young adults after say age 17. Some get started earlier and some wait until later.

Used to be in the olden days women married by 20 and had several in their 20's. Now many do not marry and many wait to have until their 30's and 40's. Normal changes with time.

Normal is a word that some use to stigmatize behavior they do or do not like. Beware of labels and judgments that are not fact based.

Smoking is not healthy and thus it is good that it is not normal anymore...
