Back from Paris France. Spent the Xmas holidays in Paris, France. Great art, food, wine and fun. The Eiffel Tower looks great in various lighting schemes at night. The terrorism fear did not seem to stop large crowds from enjoying the season. On Xmas I was at the Notre Dame cathedral for the historic mass and storied elegance of 850 years of history. I saw one person doing confession in an open setting with the priest. Apparently the new approach is more like<b> therapy </font></b>than the old in the box style. The highlight of the trip was the new Louis Vitton foundation special Russian collection of Impressionist paintings that is on display until February. Amazing is not enough for this collection. Unlikely to be seen again for years, this collection is very significant for those who love this period. Nothing like a room full of Matisse, Gaugian, Cezzane, and other masters... |

I always correct people who say the US is the greatest country on Earth. If you are talking about art, food, wine, cheese, fashion, and enjoyment of life, the French are the greatest... The Italians are also pretty hot stuff in the fashion and culture department.
