When I had my 2nd heart attack, laying on the table as they were taking my clothes off, I couldn't think of anything I had left to accomplish. I felt calm and ready to go if it was my time. The morphine may have had something to do with that.
A calmness and sense of peace does occur when you are on the brink of crossing over. Morphine is a powerful drug... I have seen people having hallucinations that were unlike any others.

You are a very strong lady, and you know that god doesn't give us things to deal with unless he knows we can handle them. I wish you all the best my friend and stay on that great road to recovery as you are almost there to making a full recovery and your doctor is right you couldn't of done it if you weren't such a resilient and strong lady. I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers always my friend.. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day..
Yes, I also believe that God doesn't give us more than we can handle. I am certainly a testament to that! Thank you for your positive thoughts and support.

I understand where you are coming from.
    I've almost been there...
    Life is short, isn't it?
You're inner monologue is better than mine
I'm on the precipice of telling some of them to fuck off.
But.. . what's the point of that?
Trust me...my inner monologue struggles to stay contained. Slide over and make room for me on that precipice. I have said aloud, things I never would have in the past.

Agree. Life is not always a bed of roses and full of sunshine and rainbows. However, those of us who choose to be strong and positive, are the winners. Thank you for your support and good wishes.

Thank you for stopping by and commenting. It was a difficult choice to share this highly personal story. However, the positivity and support has been gratifying. And if it benefits anyone else, it was more than worth it.

Yes, I know I am not alone in having overcome obstacles and odds that were not in my favour. There is an unique bond and kinship with others who have been through something similar, that those who haven’t, simply cannot understand.

I apparently had a "near death" experience, where the Dr. said if I'd been 20 minutes later getting to the hospital I wouldn't have made it. I can't help but think, "if I'd been on the phone with the Provincial Nurse Self-Help Line" just a bit longer, or waited to call them", I wouldn't have been able to drive myself to the hospital emergency room. And I might have killed someone else, on the way there.

Unfortunately, I didn't even recall him saying it at the time, and was only made aware of it 17 years after the surgery that apparently saved me - when my sister told me the story.

I still haven't "wrapped my head around it". Thanks for reminding me that we "just never know", and we have to make the most of every minute we are given.

I'm SO glad you made it through, OK.

Check out my profile or and become a "watcher" of my blog FMAOPLS,to learn more about me, and for intelligent, lively, smartassy and fun discussion, with a little irreverence thrown in. "Like" or comment on my photos, and I promise I'll add more. Thanks.

Thank you for stopping by and sharing your experience. I had heard about the tunnel of bright light that beckons you to cross over but wasn’t sure if I believed it. My thoughts about it have been forever changed and I am grateful for each and every day.

Thank you for your kind words. I felt that my potential discomfort in sharing 'my story' was worth it if it touched at least one other person.

I did have a near death experience but I was too out of it to realize any epiphanies. That did come later though. I was feeling pretty sick when it occurred to me that some people spend their whole lives in that kind of pain and I was only feeling it for the first time. It definitely puts things in perspective.

A very thoughtful post, sexy.

I am glad that you decided to hang on. I don't know what happened to you but I'm glad that you are better. How right you are on fighting or giving up. As an RN in a high acuity Medical ICU I have seen it myself. Many people on the site are agnostic and that's okay. I do believe in a higher power and I think that if it's not our time and we fight he helps us in our fight to live. May you have many more years!! John

Thank you for sharing your experience. You do know first hand, what I was referring to. My Father believed that the day we are born, our end date is determined. I have no plans to hasten that date.

Do not mistake me for now being fragile. Some may think this is a cliche, but ‘what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger’. Nothing or no one, will hold be back.

Funny, how so many, including my ‘watchers’, drop by, take a peek and say nothing. Did I scare you off? I am almost 100%....not dead yet!
