A great day for america

OK So I know that not all of my readers here will agree with me...But...It's a free country, disagree if you will.

I am convinced that the Republican leadership did nothing in Congress the past two years because they did not want Obama to be re-elected.
FAIL

I am also convinced that in certain states, the Republicans tried to thwart voters of color and poor, uneducated people with trying to pass ID laws, intimidation and other not so subtle means. Notably Texas and Florida.
FAIL.

I do agree that the country is not in great shape but hardly feel that Romney or the Tea Party Republicans offer any better solutions to a mess that Bush created, Obama inherited, and who has been thwarted purely out of partisanship.

I also personally have a theory that calling Obama a "Socialist" is just a code word for something far more racist and sinister that the mostly 100% white, conservative and male Tea Party folk can't say out loud.

Whatever, it failed. Democracy worked. He won fair and square, and now maybe, perhaps the congress can get over themselves and actually try to improve the mess that we are in.

He won because he had a better ground game, won the female vote, the Hispanic vote.

Romney didn't have a message outside of being the anti-Obama and it hurt him.

In his concession speech, we saw the real Romney.

It's too bad he didn't run as his own candidate instead of doing what his handlers wanted him to do.

He lost being something other than himself.

The part that has been the most frustrating to me is the Republicans' obstruction. It's unprecedented and it's not right. Can you imagine their response if Democrats did that to them?

I'm glad the election is over. Hopefully, things can move forward now in a more productive way with the two parties working together - or some semblance of that. A girl can dream, right???

I'm not so sure if it was what Obama did right (which frankly wasn't all that much).. or more that what the Republican propaganda machine was pushing.. was oh so very wrong!

They have been so busy kowtowing to the 1-2% Daddy Warbucks' and spreading hatred in their cheap burlesque shows to the ignorant... that they just flat forgot about everybody else.... and guess what, enough of us normal people got fed up with the tacky song and dance routines to say Oh hell no, we'll have no more of that!

The Republican so called think tank strategies were WRONG because they were totally out of touch with the backbones of America, not only that, pretty much insulted everyone who leads a regular unentitled, unappreciated month to month existence... as you said; women, hispanics, the first generation immigrants, blacks, the jobless, the underemployed, the working poor and even what used to be our hardworking middle class!

I don't think we will see the same Republican party 4 yrs from now, their flip hateful rich-mans entitlement selfishness has overstayed it's welcome. This has had to be a very big wake up call to the neocons that they simply cannot ignore the little guys who aren't in the million dollar club like their puppet masters. But folks who go to work everyday and pay their taxes who are hoping for a better world than the one they've been dished out over the last 11 years... and a big Hallelujah to that!

I know I'm sick to death of being called a socialist or a communist if I happen to mention that OUR voices are not heard and that not everybody who is hand to mouth is a leach!!!

Now it's time to get Obama to do more than give us face while he's making YesSir back room deals with and for HIS handlers.
Hopefully this will give him the courage to take hold of his own reins and boldly work for the rest of us.

Knock wood.

Wow extremely well put, exactly how I feel. Including that part that Obama should not have to make major back room deals with the ruling class (bailout of wall street 4 years ago).

Well I'm sure with you on that one!!! Let's hope we can keep the Plutocrats at bay... and I'm not afraid to say now that I really thought I was going to die with my birth country becoming a fascist state... frankly we're still not all that far away from the possibility, but this election has given me more hope than I've had in a long time that maybe, just maybe, we can get our country back to what it should be.
