Your favourite song

What's your favourite romantic/sentimental song?

I'll admit to being a bit of a sucker for older music and this is one of mine, and with the recent death of my mother seems a bit more poignant

One of my favourite songs is an oldie but goodie.

We're All Alone by Rita Coolidge

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iv3IyfMvZIc

Outside the rain begins and it may never end
So cry no more on the shore
A dream will take us out to sea
Forever more forever more
Close your eyes and dream
And and you can be with me
'Neath the waves through the caves of hours
Long forgotten now
We're all alone
We're all alone

Close the window
Calm the light
And it will be alright
No need to bother now
Let it out
Let it all begin
Learn how to pretend

Once a story's told
It can't help but grow old
Roses do
Lovers too
So cast your seasons to the wind
And hold me dear
Oh, hold me dear

Close the window
Calm the light
And it will be alright
No need to bother now
Let it out
Let it all begin
All's forgotten now
We're all alone
oh-oh, we're all alone

Close the window
Calm the light
And it will be alright
No need to bother now
Let it out
Let it all begin
Owe it to the wind, my love

There are several I can think but one of my favorites is Warren Zevon's Mutineer. It's not about teenage love or young love or fizzy new love. It's about two people who have been around the block and through the ringer and have found each other.

No rainbows, no hearts and flowers; It's about a ride or die chick and her man.

...Ain't no room on board for the insincere
You're my witness, I'm your mutineer

Hello, nice to hear from you again. It's been a while since I've been here.

I've been listening to a lot of easier listening stuff lately ever since my mum died. Carly Simon, Rita Coolidge, Anne Murray but still a fan of the 70's and 80's stuff. I recently saw a concert with the Thompson Twins (I'm not sure if they're known in the US or Canada), Boy George and my favourite, Belinda Carlisle. She could really belt the tunes out. Unlike a lot of the newer bands she didn't need a troupe of back up singers and dancers. Sure, she had her band, but pretty much the norm.

I'm not an Elvis fan as such, but I do like some of his music. Suspicious Minds is one of his I like.

I'll tell you what's a nice song. Billy Valentine and the Forest Rangers did a redone version of the song Someday Never Comes which was a Credence Clearwater Revival original. I usually dislike remixes but Sons of Anarchy had some nice versions like Katey Sagals version of Son of a Preacher Man.

While Boy George and the Thompson Twins were good, Belinda was my favourite of the three. I've got very eclectic tastes myself. I've listened to everything from Rita, Streisand up to Heavy Metal. I do like older Iron Maiden. I'm not fond of but even then there are one or two older ones I like like Coolio's Gangsters Paradise.
