Brits spell the word moustache because we got the word in the sixteenth century from the French, who in turn got the word in the fourteenth century from the Italian word, moustacio. The letter O has always been there until the Americans much later dropped the letter.
I love the historical origins of words.

 I should never have tried to grow a moustache because I could have then thought I could grow one if I wanted to. Now I know I can't grow a moustache!

 I guess one of the few advantages of not being particularly hairy is that I don't have to shave all over.

 Oooh la la! Tom Selleck!! I LOVE a mustache! My ex husband wore a mustache for years and years, he hasn't in quite a while now. It is a look that I wish would make a comeback.

Unlike beards, moustaches haven't really made a comeback ... yet!
