REPORTING FOR DUTY BUT NOT FOR HARVEY AND DONALD  I haven’t been around in blogland much in the last week. I promise I will catch up with the wonderful blogs I follow over the next few days. Work has been very busy for the last few weeks and I went down with something last week - aching bones, aching teeth, shivering, sweating, listlessness and dry eyes. My guess is that this was all stress-induced from work. I was too sick to work much of last week. I emailed work last Wednesday to say I was too ill to work and on my return today I received a reply to my email that I need to take personal responsibility for not meeting a deadline late last week! I was furious. My workplace has become incredibly exploitative of late. I shouldn’t be surprised as that is what managers are paid to do, trying to get more from workers with less. I haven’t had a substantial pay rise for ten years; that’s the price you pay for working in the public sector in the UK after the government bailed out the banks a decade ago! I don't see any evidence that bankers aren't still getting rich after the global financial crisis. While off work, and because I’m a news junkie, I managed to read lots of newspapers, listen to lots of radio and watch lots of television while I was off work. News just seems to get worse - Brexit, Trump, Iran, UNESCO, climate change, Myanmar, Syria, Iraq, hurricanes, South Africa, forest fires, North Korea, Somalia, Turkey and the list goes on. I know news tends to be bad, but I’ve never been so politically depressed in all my life. And to top it all, Harvey Weinstein then comes along. I’m staggered at the growing list of women giving their very consistent testimony of his sexual behaviour. As Lord Acton quipped, "Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely." Though not surprised by the predatory sexual exploits of a powerful and rich man, I was staggered by the duration and scale of his exploits. Given that Pulp Fiction is my favourite ever film, should I still like the film given that Harvey Weinstein was the film's producer? Harvey Weinstein clearly has all the credentials to be the next US President!  |

Well for starters I hope you feel better soon. Bosses have a habit of sucking the life blood out of you but putting the blame on you when you were out sick is a bit much.  As for people in power....sorry to burst your bubble but there are women who can be just as bad. ~~Anais Nin~~

interesting that Harvey had to go off to get "well" and was stripped of his job and yet #45 was elected in spite of. both rich, both white, both powerful. so tell me my friend.........what the fuck is wrong with America that one is vilified and the other is patted on the back? You cannot conceive the many without the one.

As the numbers keep growing, I don't think he deserves a "second chance"! I just wonder if it will take as long as Cosby to get a conviction!

Seems like everyone is being shafted these days, and apart from the 1% it's against our will............. Loving a film which was financed by organisations who invested because of Winestain , the cunt,and his influence isnae your fault............ Otherwise, I found recently that managing the problem of being managed by cunts was far more profitable, and far less stressful. ps - sorry for the anger here, I guess I am angry at constantly seeing good people being fucked by cunts in the so-called names of efficiency and accountability..........unfortunately it is no different in the private sector......

The world in it's "horribleness" has finally been exposed. Weinstein is as bad, if not worse, than Cosby. Hopefully it ends soon. ). After retirement, I did work for a corporation for seven years. I seldom withheld my opinions towards the Management jerks. I had a simple way of work. I did my job to the best of my abilities. When they laid a person off as a cost savings measure and assigned that persons work to me without added compensation, I took a simple approach. I told them to "piss off". Since it was a contract for a Government project, that was illegal for them to do, so they backed off. Of course I documented their attempt. I had no career intent, it was simply a job to me to be done to the best of my abilities. That confused the hell out of them. I wish others had the same opportunities , maybe it would squash the jerks

It's not a great time to come down with something and get stuck with nothing to do but look at media.  -- I'm sure you would forgive yourself easier for falling under the weather during the Tour de France.  I think it's ok to still like Pulp Fiction. His name has touched so many things. - Those who worked with him are just starting to speak up, most with remorse; and a few are even giving residuals to women's charities. I just want to stick my head in the sand. The levels of tragedy in the world are very high. .. Not that this is anything new, but the level of awareness has increased dramatically. I could ramble, but this is just a comment. . Puerto Rico is on my mind, but there are even worse islands to be stranded on.

All three fell in disgrace. (But Savile died before he was publicly humiliated.) .. All these scandals. Each similar yet different. --- I do hope that something good can come from all of this new awareness.

I'm not uglier than Harvey but I have a lot less success than him, it's true that I'm not a man of power.
