FROM LADDERS TO CHIVES

Please can the person who borrowed my ladders return them; otherwise, further steps will be taken!

Generally I’m happy to lend stuff to friends even though I know I may not see the stuff back.

Books I find are particularly problematic. I lend a book to a friend but, well after a reasonable interval of time for my friend to read the book, I realise I’m not going to get the book back unless I ask for it back. And even after I ask the book rarely gets returned. And the more I ask, the more I feel mean asking for my book back.

Money is also a problem. I’m happy to lend money but I prefer to give money to my friends. I’ve lent money to friends but it has soured friendships if the money’s not paid back.

Unless there are exceptional circumstances, I will only lend out what I can afford to lose. But generally I’d much prefer to give than lend.

Do you readily lend stuff to your family and friends?

I’m missing my ladders as I can’t change my light bulbs naked without them!

Last night in the darkness, I thought I heard my onions in the kitchen singing a Bee Gees song but it turned out it was just my chives talking!

I ceased lending books a long time ago. I treasure my tomes. I even write in my books and what I write is my business. I will never do monetary for anyone- got burned badly once too often. But I will help a friend if I see the need. And I love your stairways to heaven

Do you readily lend stuff to your family and friends? I have a spare set of "disposable" tools that I will lend. But never anything else.

Turn up the chives and enjoy

I lend stuff to the children and often check their sheds and reclaim garden tools!!!!

Money is a different matter...they may ask me for loan and I always give it....in the knowledge I won't get it back.

lending must be thought of as "gift" since objects and money are rarely returned.

I was pleasantly surprised to have three books that are out of print returned after 11 years by an old friend with a profound apology.

and I have a healing amethyst that has travelled the world quite literally and finds its way home every year or so. smiles.

You cannot conceive the many without the one.

I guess you could called me a fool as I have so much, I'm always being asked if this or that can be borrowed. I get most back but occasionally some things are NOT returned........but I do keep sending reminders!

I remember loaning TAO a book. It was like pulling teeth to get it back!

Someone now is asking me for a sum on money. (for a day) .. No. I couldn't afford to lose it. (And this is the second time in a week that he's asked.)

I give. I don't lend.

Read my diary Journal of a Taxi Driver for taxi stories and pictures of flowers and trees.

Do you readily lend stuff to your family and friends? I really don't like to anymore because they almost never bring it back. There are some people who are good about it though. It pisses me off when I have to go and my own tools from someone so I can use them and even more so when they say they don't have them.

I don't lend anything out with the expectation of it being returned.... that way I'm never disappointed

Do you readily lend stuff to your family and friends? Oh, no. Not anymore. Especially books. They never return books and hide them when I come over. I believe that lending/borrowing money ruins relationships. I'd rather give than lend.

Oh, by the way! May I hold the ladders for you while you climb them naked?

Neither a borrower nor a lender be. So said Polonius, who is generally considered to have been wrong about nearly everything.

And yes- I both borrow and lend things. You do have to look at a loaned book as a gift because you will likely never set eyes on it again.

Like you, I prefer to give that lend and it is so cold that my chives prefer to be silent in the kitchen garden, unless she speaks badly of me, in a low voice so that I can not hear.
But I willingly lend my ladder to women who do not wear panties
...to clean my elephant.

I'm like that with books especially. I write my name in my books just so I can prove they'tre mine but I still don't get them back when I lend them out!
