DECIDING WHAT TO WEAR   Above are Gustave Caillebotte’s 1873 Woman at a Dressing Table and Julia Beck’s 1935 Woman Dressing paintings. One quite recent study found that women spend nearly one year of their lives deciding what to wear. Matalan, a British retailing chain, surveyed nearly 2,500 women and found that on average a woman will spend 287 days rifling through their wardrobe to decide what to wear. The survey found that the average woman spends about 16 minutes every weekday morning and 14 minutes every weekend morning. She will spend about 20 minutes deciding what to wear on a weekend evening. Also a woman will spend over 50 minutes what clothes to take on holiday, and while on holiday she will spend 10 minutes each morning and another 10 minutes each evening deciding what clothes to wear. For special occasions, like Christmas, dinner parties and wedding parties, a woman will spend 36 minutes before deciding what to wear. How long does it take you to decide what to wear? How long does it take you from getting up to going out? I’m quite decisive when it comes to deciding what to wear; my decision will be made in seconds rather than minutes. From getting up to going out, I can manage this in 10 minutes or 15 minutes if I need to shower. I’m always ready to go out quickly! Inside is not me getting dressed!   |

Well, the most time I spend is in the shower - about 20 minutes. After that, I spend another 5 minutes moisturizing while deciding what to wear. So, by the time I showered and moisturized, it takes another 5-10 minutes to dress and choose jewelry and shoes. Takes me half an hour to get up and out in the mornings....that includes time to have a coffee and check the weather forecast and catch the first local news of the day. What I am wearing usually depends on the weather!  ~~Anais Nin~~

I usually just grab something from my wardrobe. Takes me about 5 minutes to decide what to wear. A new Primark store opened in town recently!

During the week for work... from start to finish to get ready (not including coffee, a quick internet check and making my lunch) 40 min... give or take. Damn hair takes the longest.. Weekends, 10 min tops! Rachel Mae

How long does it take you to decide what to wear? That only takes seconds but a little longer to put them on. How long does it take you from getting up to going out? If it's an urgent matter then minutes but otherwise I'm usually around for about an hour to an hour and a half before leaving if I'm taking a shower and making breakfast and checking email etc. Vive La Difference

I take out my clothes the night before- that ends the decision process. With shower and tea or coffee about 20 minutes tops (Virtual Symposium Group) use Virtual Symposium Group

And well woth it - I wouldn't complain a bit - just watch  How long does it take you to decide what to wear? Like you said seconds – warm weather (summer) is shorts and a Hawaiian shirt. Not summer – jeans and a warmer shirt. How long does it take you from getting up to going out? With shower I can be at the door in a half hour. I don’t rush, it just wastes time IMO. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I'm pretty slow. It really doesn't need to take that long but I dawdle. I spent years rushing- rushing to get to work, rushing to make delivery deadlines all day, rushing home again. I don't want to rush any more. I could probably get ready in five minutes if I felt like it. All I have to do is give the stuff I'm gonna put on the smell test and put it on. How long does it take you to decide what to wear? How long does it take you from getting up to going out? Clothes and dressing do not take long at all as I do not have many right now. I was once in one size only three weeks before I had to buy the next size. I have three pairs of denim jeans in each size, one of each color, black, khaki and traditional blue jeans. In the summer, various colors and sizes of the same boat-neck short sleeved shirt. For winter, long sleeves, several colors of the same turtle neck and several colors of the same scoop neck shirt. I have ordered two dresses now and I'm waiting for them to arrive. Now, hair and make up, well there is where the time is really spent!
