I’M NOT A NESCIENT FUCK; I’M A FANTASTIC FUCK

Words is one word and also more than one word! I love rummaging around a dictionary to find new words. Yes, I'm a geek!

Fuck is my most favourite word. It’s a simple but passionate word with many useful but clear meanings.

Here are ten other favourite words.
1. nescience = ignorance
2. popinjay = a vain, foppish or conceited person
3. parvenu = an upstart
4. peccadillo = a minor fault
5. sobriquet = a nickname
6. foible = an eccentricity
7. dilettante = a person taking a superficial interest in something but without any knowledge
8. coquette = a flirtatious woman
9. gongoozling = observing things idly without getting involved, especially on canals
10. verbiage = excessive use of words

Do you have any favourite words? If so, what are your favourites?
Do you have any words or phrases that you over-use?

The word I probably over-use, probably to the extent of losing its meaning when I utter the word, is fantastic!

When wanting to be cruel to someone who is annoying me with their stupidity, I often like to accuse them of displaying considerable nescience. I love the irony of them going to look up the word in a dictionary which merely confirms my accusation. At least that's what I like to think they'll do!

Below is Samuel Johnson's definition of nescience in his 1755 dictionary.

I thought a peccadillo was the state bird of Texas. I learn something every time I come here, Spunktious.

Do you have any favourite words? If so, what are your favourites?
I reckon so, and one of them is reckon. I'm fond of gobsmacked, and for some reason I like the sound of the word crucifix, likewise crucible and excruciating. The top keyword in my blog is love while fuck is number seven.

Do you have any words or phrases that you over-use? No fucking way but I do use Fuck as in What The Fuck, Who The Fuck, Why The Fuck and of course How The Fuck. However, between our fucking political situation and some of the fucking situations online it is often the one of the first fucking words that comes to mind. Also, fuck isn’t a really impressive word to use in place of making love. But then what the fuck do I know?

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Hello Spunky
In french, parvenu, sobriquet, dilettante, coquette and verbiage are the same words.
I like this site : http://www.cledut.net/xylo.htm#
People can propose new words made by using Greek and Latin or else root, of course they must be funny.
I don't know if it can be funny in english ?
For example "préhibernoluthidolichospasmes homéoanémicardiomutilatoire" means "Les sanglots longs des violons de l'automne blessent mon cœur d'une langueur monotone", the first lines of a popular poem by Paul Verlaine.

I like words! Though I tend to use mostly simple ones that are well known I do have some big words in reserve but I often have trouble recalling them when I would like to use them.

Do you have any favourite words? If so, what are your favourites? It seems the ones that come to mind are swear words such as fuck, god damn, shit, bastard, bitch, mother fucker. But I do have a general appreciation for the more acceptable words that are fit for public use just not so much as favorites. It seems some words are more expressive of certain emotions at times...

Do you have any words or phrases that you over-use? Sometimes the F word does see an awful lot of use but I try to keep it to myself at those times or at least try to be sure no one is in hearing range unless I'm home.

I'm not sure if I have a favourite word at present....but I know I say fuck far too often and sometimes when I shouldn't.

French is a beautiful language; English is ugly by comparison but is perhaps more direct!

How about Flibbertigibbet. I don't know that it is a favorite (I've corrected the spelling for you, just in case you are nescient in regards to the English language and proper spelling. Anyways, I don't know if it is a favorite, but I may be guilty of being a flibbertigibbet myself, but not a nescient one.

Do you have any words or phrases that you over-use? I tend to say "What the hell!" when surprised or confounded by something. I've passed it on to my daughter, who has passed it on to my three-year-old grandson.
I am nescient what flibbertigibbet means but what the hell!

"Having said that" is a pause phrase but however (another pause word), nonetheless (ditto), and nevertheless (ditto again) we all need to say those pause terms just to think and read those pause words just to rest!
