TRUMP’IN HELL

I know I haven't got a vote in the US presidential election but I’ve been following the campaign with much interest. It’s the most exciting and most worrying presidential campaign I’ve ever known.

To me from afar, Donald Trump is a fascist in the making. His attacks on Muslims, women, the disabled, Mexicans, Scottish politicians, Britain and other European countries, never mind his attacks against his political opponents and party colleagues, mark him out as a neo-fascist.

The Nazis wanted to make Germany great again; the Nazis were initially policy-lite; the Nazis played on populist fears; the Nazis played the nationalist card; and the Nazis fuelled hatred towards certain groups of people.

I’m not saying America now is like Germany then, and I’m not saying Donald Trump is like Adolf Hitler. What I am saying is that fascism has roots in the politics of hatred, the politics that Trump is now peddling. Fascist roots need uprooting!

I just can’t fully understand why the Republicans agreed that Donald Trump could run as a Republican candidate. And I can’t fully understand why he’s attracting lots of support. I just don’t get it, but I often don’t get American politics.

Who will the Democrats and Republicans nominate as presidential candidates?
Who will be the next US President?

I think the US presidential election will be between Clinton and Trump, and I think Clinton will win.

And I very much hope Clinton wins. It's not that I prefer her politics over Bernie Sanders’ politics but because I think she’s the only person who can stop Trump.

Unfortunately mcmaniac’s presidential campaign hasn’t yet gained much traction, probably because Trump is ‘out-maniacing’ him! But why vote for a maniac when you can vote for the real mcmaniac?!

Your comparisons are spot on. I will say Donald Trump is a lot like Adolf Hitler and he is trying to turn us into post WW I Germany.

I just can’t understand why the Republicans agreed that Donald Trump could run as a Republican candidate. At first he was considered a joke and political parties have little power to stop anyone from running. Especially when the money isn't provided via the party.

I can’t fully understand why he’s attracting lots of support. You said it already, the politics of fear just like Hitler.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I used to agree with you that Hilary was the one who could beat any Republican candidate- and I still think she can win the general election. But I'm beginning to think Bernie is the guy with the best chance. You have to live here and interact with Americans daily to understand the visceral hatred of Hilary that many Americans have. She carries all the baggage of her husband- unfairly, I think- and none of his charm. She just can't woo and bullshit the voters the way Slick Willie can. I think she'd be a good president, although I AM supporting Bernie Sanders. Each one of the candidates has drawbacks to his electability.

I'm a Marxist, so I'm wearing my heart on my sleeve here. But you have Trump figured exactly right. He does represent the fascist inclinations of a lot of the angry and ignorant. He's the loudmouthed drunk at the end of the bar. He's a megalomaniac on a grand scale and the Republican primary season is now a reality show. You can point out the facts- that he's a failed businessman as much as he's a success. Neither has anything to do with his qualifications to lead the nation. His daddy started him in business and that's the source of his successes- and that isn't relevant either. But this election isn't about facts for Trump supporters. They don't even consider the facts- it's about their anger and hatred, unreasoning though that may be.

This thing is far from over, but when it is Trump will have lost the election and he'll claim victory. He'll say he was conspired against and the establishment screwed him- exactly the way his supporters feel when things don't turn out their way.

It is the worst set of potential candidates that I can remember. Trump is a wacko. And Hilary is a felon that has not yet been indicated for doing Government business and receiving and transmitting classified Government information on personal email. It should be noted that several State Department employees under her tenure (and at her insistence )were prosecuted and convicted of the same crimes. Sanders is a self proclaimed Socialist and that has no place in our society

I think like you spunky!
From listening to some analysts, I've heard that if Trumps wins the Republican race, it will be a sure win for Hilary! I guess we will know in November!

Like I said back when I first started commenting on the race... I believe that Bernie is the best bet and the only reasonable candidate with a chance of fixing the corruption in Washington. I don't think he can fix everything in one term but he can get the ball rolling which none of the others will do.

I think Trump will not get the Republican nomination and will quite possibly run as an independent. I'm hoping the people of the United States will see that Bernie is better than Hillary for many reasons and will be running against Ted Cruz and Trump as an Independent.

Trump is obviously an obnoxious racist with some serious personality disorders. He is hypersensitive to criticism, he's a bully, he thinks he's smarter than everybody else, he lies, he thinks he's better than anybody else, etc.

The Republican parties leaders have had a racist attitude and have taken steps to prevent the black voters from getting to vote for many years now. I'm not saying that everybody in the Republican party is a racist but the leadership has been involved in activities that can't be described as anything but racist.

The behavior they demonstrated when Obama was elected and the continued obstructionism and outrage they demonstrated at everything he did had so many racial overtones it was clear what they were thinking. Some of them even said things that were heard yet they say they aren't racists. They have acted so outraged on broadcast television demonstrating the very worst behavior. So guess what... the Republicans who are already pissed because they have lost jobs or taken pay cuts or haven't seen a raise in years get to thinking that is an okay way to behave then along comes Trump to pump it up. That's not to mention the Tea Party assholes that for years have been acting like they own America and everybody should live the way they say trying to shove their righteous religion down everyone's throat.

What pisses me off is Hillary telling so many bullshit lies trying her best to make Bernie look bad and saying he is un-electable. She fooled a bunch of people but there are many people yet to cast their votes.

The other Republican candidates could squash Trump if they would just pick one of themselves to go up against him, but they all think they are going to win if they stay in long enough and are setting Trump up to win the nomination. He hadn't been getting more than about 30-35 % until recently. However Trump may find he isn't so popular in the rest of the states as he has been. Trumps behavior has been getting a bit more erratic also so that will take a toll on his support.

Vive La Difference

You are dead on about Trump. And the comparisons to fascism are also true. .. But I've spent my day throwing out my distaste of him, so I am done. HE WILL NOT BECOME PRESIDENT. .. If he does...Then look he fuck out, because I could then see a military coup, and that would be terrible for the whole world.

I see the tides changing. Bernie has a shot at pulling this off. The polls are so wrong. People need to get out and VOTE!!! Tuesday will be another big day. .. I see the media slowly changing its tune. ... (The media is owned by Hillary supporters.) .. I hope it turns out like 2008, when Hillary was supposedly "inevitable". She's not. ... She has a lot of baggage, and plenty of us see the "professional politician" in her. ... (Of course she's better than any Republican.)

I fear that Trump will run whether or not he receives the Republican nomination....so he will be there till November. I really don't think that America is ready for a woman as President....another woman perhaps but not Hilary Clinton. I am saying lots of prayers for Sanders.

Just sounds kind of spooky, politicians are paid criminals for the most part. Welcome to the free world of democracy. Might need to keep your head down & pass the ammo. Americans do have a thing about shooting folks if they don't like them.

The major political parties here in the UK have considerable control over who they put forward as candidates; many people complain about their control over candidate selection but at least it stops a Trump-like candidate running.
