IT’S BEEN A FUNNY WEEK

My week has been a very bad week at work. Too much work and too little time! Too many people wanting things from me urgently and too few people giving me things I wanted urgently! Many people criticising me when I did bad but saying nothing to me when I did good!

I think work is essentially exploitative. But I need to work to pay the bills and, moreover, to pay for my cigarettes, curry and wine! I can't wait until I retire with a comfortable pension.

As well as being a bad week at work, my whole week has been strange.

Only last Saturday, I wrote a joke about a fat badger but I couldn't fit it into my set!

The next day on Sunday, I was given some Sudoku toilet paper but it didn't work. You could only fill it in with number 1s and number 2s!

On Monday I overheard a policeman saying to a belly button, "You're under a vest"!

And on Tuesday, I asked someone how I should cook a female ape and I was advised to grill her!

Last Wednesday I decided to sell my Hoover because it was just gathering dust!

On Thursday, only yesterday, I learnt the difference between a hippo and a Zippo. One is really heavy and the other is a little lighter.

As it’s Friday today, I thought I’d try and blog about perception and perspective, but I soon gave up after realising it all depends on how you look at it!

If not retired from work, are you looking forward to retirement?
If retired, do you ever regret your decision to retire from work?

PS. Thanks to Masai Graham, Bec Hill, Tim Vine and Felicity Ward for the above lines!

If not retired from work, are you looking forward to retirement? I was retired and back at work again.
If retired, do you ever regret your decision to retire from work? I never regret leaving work. I ended up going back to them later on after I was retired as a casual employee to help them out with some stuff they needed training for. All the qualified people retired and new ones coming up didn't have the experience.

I retired on New Year's Eve 2013 and I've never looked back.

Make room for that fat badger.

I have mixed feelings about work. I like what I do for work most of the time but sometimes not so much. Retirement could be nice though... I can think of lots of things to do...

It seems you have had a thought provoking week!

If not retired from work, are you looking forward to retirement? I certainly looked forward to it and planned accordingly

If retired, do you ever regret your decision to retire from work? Never a look back. After 30 military career, I retired and went to corporate work for what turned out to be 7 years. Finally I locked in a pension and left. The corporate piss ants were not worth any further efforts

I'm semi-retired due to my health.

I liked those puns

I'm looking forward to not working.

This work stuff... it's highly overrated. I don't recommend it.

I like to dream about a career change, but I don't dare dream about retirement.
Maybe someday I'll have a different career and can then start to think about vacations and eventual retirement.

Read my diary Journal of a Taxi Driver for taxi stories and pictures of flowers and trees.

What a week you had!

If not retired from work, are you looking forward to retirement? I wasn't looking forward to retirement but had to retire due to health problems.

If retired, do you ever regret your decision to retire from work? It wasn't a decision per se, so I do regret it.

That's great you had the chance to retire and then un-retire!

That's reassuring to hear. One of things stopping me 'retire' is the uncertainty of what lies ahead!

If I were to retire, I'd probably spend more time on this site. Perhaps I shouldn't retire!

Work is over-rated. I've probably enjoyed about one quarter of my work I've done and it's been about ten years since i enjoyed my job. Time for a change, me thinks!
