OUTDOOR BUBBLE FUN    Above is Lough Erne in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. The Irish like to call their lakes loughs, just as lakes are often called loghs in Cornwall, lochs in Scotland, and llwchs and llyns in Wales. On the edge of Lough Erne is the Finn Lough Resort. Recently two bubble domes, known as forest domes, have been installed in the resort’s woodland. These bubble domes are hotel bedrooms and are totally see-through, though there are a few non-transparent areas to ensure some privacy for dome guests. The smaller forest dome can be booked for £175 and the larger dome can be booked for £195 per night per night including breakfast for two guests. Each dome has a four-poster bed, a waterfall shower, an electric wood-like fire, underfloor heating and a coffee machine, plus fluffy robes and slippers. The larger dome has a bubble lounge equipped with a vinyl record player! Would you like to stay in a bubble dome? A bubble dome certainly beats a tent. And initially I think I would love to spend a night in a bubble dome just for the spectacular views of the woods and the sky. But then I thought of the Bogeyman that may go for a night-time walk through the woods. Even worse, I thought of a murderer looking for an easy victim. With these thoughts in mind, I’m not so sure I would sleep easy in a bubble dome! There are also bubble dome bedrooms in the South of France and there are glass igloos in Finland - see photo below.  |

I guess I'd like it better then a tent... much better view. I can just see one of those around here in Vermont. Waking up in the middle of the night to see a black bear peering in at you  But I'd rather have the plastic or glass then a thin tent wall between me and the bear. Especially as I sleep bare I never have thought the hang your food from a tree and have no food in your tent to be sufficient. Last I new bears eat meat and we people in tents are like a meat roll up for a bear.  Vive La Difference

I wouldn't mind being able to see the stars etc....and not get wet in the rain which is pretty well guaranteed anywhere in Ireland....north or south!!! ~~Anais Nin~~

Would you like to stay in a bubble dome? For a weekend if it came with a bubble ass!  If the bubble dome came with a bubble ass, I'd stay there for a month!

An underwater hotel sounds great. At least it won't rain while staying at the hotel!

My daughter's sister-in-law has bought one for a couple of thousand pounds. I wouldn't mind staying in it on their private property in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. It might be fun. I don't think I'd like to be there alone. Maybe I'd have one of the dogs along for company and protection from the Boogie man/Bogeyman.
