HOW TO PICK UP A MAN

Above are the '13 Little Things That Can Make a Man Fall Hard for You' recently published in the American edition of Glamour magazine. After being widely condemned, the magazine has removed these tips from its website.

The 13 tips are the sort of advice that women would receive in the 1950s - back to the future!

In response, The Guardian newspaper published six allegedly scientifically proven tips for women to get their man. Here are their tips, word-for-word, on how to pick up and keep a man:

Condition that guy relentlessly. Man do nice thing? Give man meat. Man like meat, make man do nice thing again…. Via the process of operant conditioning, the crafty balancing of reward and punishment in response to certain behaviours, he will soon learn to be faithful and committed to you.

Look as much like him as possible. Look like your man, so he can never escape himself. You’ve heard that opposites attract? Well, forget about that. Many studies have revealed that people are likely to be attracted to individuals who resemble them.

Convince him that free will is an illusion. All choice is an illusion, other women even more so. One sure fire way to stop your man choosing to leave you is to convince him that the very act of making a choice doesn’t actually exist. A lot of research from the field of neuroscience suggests that the activity responsible for action occurs before the conscious awareness of that action occurs. This suggests that we are not responsible for our actions, we are only aware of them afterwards so are creatures of pure reflex and passivity at the most fundamental level.

Stop him from sweating. It’s not enough to just ensure your man is committed to you, you have to make sure no other women have a chance either. While your manipulation techniques will have psychologically broken him to the point where no other women think of him as a desirable partner, there is still the more biological components to consider. One of these is sweat; many recent studies suggest that women are responsive to the smell of a man’s sweat and end up being aroused or attracted to him as a result. Obviously, you need to curb your man’s sweat to prevent this.

Take him hostage. Why not drop the pretence and genuinely restrict his movements? Considering that you’re already considering going to extreme lengths to manipulate your partner to prevent him from ever leaving you, why not just kidnap him outright? Holding him hostage in a perilous and unnerving scenario may well induce Stockholm Syndrome, strengthening any existing bond between you via the mechanism of mortal peril and domination.

Just don’t. Is this relationship really worth so much effort? Is any? Chill out and have a drink instead, it’s far less stressful. When you think about it, if you’re having to resort to such feeble and/or ridiculous manipulations to make someone love you, they probably don’t, so save both him and yourself some time and dignity and move on as soon as you can.

Do you have any tips you want to share on how to pick up a man or woman?
What’s the longest relationship with a man or woman that you’ve had?

My Dad once gave me what he thought was good advice about girls - 'Treat them mean, keep them keen'! As a dutiful , I’ve always followed his advice, which may explain why my longest relationship has never exceeded five years!

My problem’s never been picking up women; it’s always been keeping them! I can lift but I can't hold!

The best way I've seen to pick up men is to join a site like this and say you are looking for a woman!

I used to think routines would kill couples. Then I read an article and try to behave since this way with my beloved.

1 - Rhythm of the day : a "good morning" each morning, even if waking up at different hours (I sleep more than her). Keeping in touch during daytime, a quick phone call or a message ... A hug when we are together again. Go to bed together - and say "good night, sleep tight". Say "I love you" at least once a day.
2 - Sharing and showing out : always search what we have in common, what we can do together in a nea

I used to think routines would kill couples. Then I read an article and try to behave since this way with my beloved. Routines can be a cement.

2 - Sharing and showing out : always search what we have in common, what we can do together in a near or far future. Walk side by side or hand in hand. Kiss shamelessly in the street. Just be proud to be together.
3 - Positiveness. Forgive - if not today, soon, there's always quarrels but they'll be overcomed. Angry ? Breeze, say "Ok, we'll see later" and when it's beddy time, say "good night my love." Search what's good in the partner and forgive what you have felt bad. Trust, doubt kills love.

My beloved and i do not live together that often. But we stay in touch everyday and when we rejoin, hug and walk hand in hand to the place we'll share for a few days or weeks. Sex ? Oh, yes ... but I truly hope that when I'll be overage, we'll still be together. The above tips matter so much more !
The ones you mentioned ... are crap. Guardian is disgusting.

The Guardian is onto something with their first and third points... as everything is reflex, based on chemicals in the brain, it is possible to condition responses more efficiently by altering that brain chemistry.

Men have known about this for centuries...

It's why we give women chocolate

Never get so comfortable that you show the whole you. Keep some things a mystery.

Do you have any tips you want to share on how to pick up a man or woman? Apparently, just making a profile here has them queuing up. Doesn't matter if you are from the B list either, as long as you've got a hole or two or three for them to ah . . . it's a done deal. They really don't give a shit about you really; that becomes apparent rather quickly. Has every man on this website been sectioned or is in need of it? I sure know how to pick 'em, or so it seems. Oh but not you Hugh, you are just fine and I think holding you hostage would work out fine for both of us.

What’s the longest relationship with a man or woman that you’ve had? 38.5 years and counting . . .
I've not been sectioned ... yet!
I'll never get to 38.5 years!
