IN PRAISE OF CROCS       They’re not fashionable but I love wearing Crocs. Despite being described as ugly and condemned as a fashion faux pas, I love wearing the plastic foam clogs when holidaying. I can go sightseeing, eating, drinking, shopping and swimming in them, though dancing is not always easy! I don’t need to pack any other shoes when on holiday. Launched in 2002, Crocs became very popular. President George W Bush, First Lady Michelle Obama, American chef Mario Batali, rock star Iggy Pop and Prince William’s have all been spotted wearing Crocs. Even tortoises like fucking Crocs! Mario Batali ordered 200 pairs of orange Crocs when he heard that the colour was to be discontinued. Iggy Pop bought a customised pair of Crocs with one shoe having a much larger heel - I guess his friend is much taller than him! Soon after Prince George was recently photographed wearing a pair, Amazon sales of Crocs increased by 1,500 per cent. There are signs that Crocs are no longer so popular. Crocs, Inc was valued at $6 billion in 2007 but is now valued at just over $1 billion. The company is laying off staff and closing stores worldwide. The Facebook group, I Don’t Care How Comfortable Crocs Are, You Look Like A Dumbass, has long campaigned against the wearing of Crocs. In 2010, the Time magazine included Crocs in its list of the 50 worst inventions! Have you worn a pair of Crocs? What’s there not to like about Crocs? Do you think a person wearing Crocs is a dumbass? I don’t think George W Bush is a dumbass for wearing Crocs! Donald Trump is now making him look very smart. I’m a proud owner of one pair of brown Crocs, though I do draw a line of wearing socks with Crocs! Recently I’ve started to make my own shoes on my crocodile farm - see below for my hatchery-to-tannery activities. My crocs start green but end up grey!     |

Have you worn a pair of Crocs? About 12 years ago when they were all the rage. I would never wear them now. They would make my plantar fasciitis worse. What’s there not to like about Crocs? They are easy to slip on but offer minimal support for people like me with flat feet that need a shoe with good arch support. Do you think a person wearing Crocs is a dumbass? To each their own!

My 2 year old has a pair. I do not...but I have a pair of shoes made with a squishy rubber that I wear when I am on the boat, in the water or on the beach. They are not crocs but very similar.

Have you worn a pair of Crocs? Nope. What’s there not to like about Crocs? Lots of things- I like having more protection on my feet when working. I wear combat boots or hiking boots. Barefoot is OK if you condition your feet to it- look at all the workmen in poor nations who do a tremendous amount of work barefoot! But I'm spoiled, and I live where it gets cold. I like covering my feet. Do you think a person wearing Crocs is a dumbass? If either Bush or Trump is wearing them, yes. Otherwise, it would be unkind to jump to such a conclusion. I will give Bush some credit though, for having enough class to keep his mouth shut and not criticize his successor. I didn't think he had it in him. I was wrong. Recently my nearly four-year-old granddaughter picked out a pair of purple crocks at the shoe store, both my son-in-law and daughter tried unsuccessfully to dissuade her from wanting those shoes.
