THERE WAS CARNAGE   Yesterday there was carnage ... on my chin! For the last few weeks I’ve been trying to grow a beard. I’ve never grown one before. But a few weeks ago I thought I was mature enough to grow a beard. Though Hugh Grant would never have approved, I thought David Beckham may have invited me to his next party! How deluded I was in my thinking! I was hoping to grow a beard that resembled an exotic jungle or at least a well trimmed wood. But instead my effort resembled scrubland with very uneven patches of facial growth. Everyone I met in the last few weeks was too polite to mention my attempt at growing a beard; they perhaps thought I was a from the streets. I then resorted to telling everyone who cared to listen that I was growing a beard. I didn’t receive one word of encouragement, never mind a compliment, about my efforts. My 'beard' started to get itchy, which I’m told is normal. And I was increasingly worried about getting bits of food stuck in my 'beard'. A decision was made yesterday to get rid of it. The experience was not like that of James Bond’s in the Skyfall film. Instead the experience resembled an outtake from the Sweeney Todd film. It took six shaves to get rid of my facial growth and the result was a blood-ridden chin! I didn’t even a ChapStick at hand. I can’t go out at the moment as I need time to recover from my self-inflicted wounds! Do you like beards and moustaches? If so, what type do you like most? Do you regularly cut yourself when shaving? Below is what I wanted to look like with a beard and what I sort-of look like now without a beard. At least I look younger even if I haven’t lost my beard virginity! I wonder if yours was the beard that just washed up on the shores of the USA?  At least they believe it to be a beard. There was disagreement on whether or not it had enough hairs to qualify.  blog on!

Do you like beards and moustaches? I have had a moustache since I was 16 or 17, since then never a naked face . since I have been retired, around Thanksgiving I start my "winter beard" keeping it trimmed to just under 1/4 inch. Beginning of February trim down to a goatee then March/April go back to the moustache onlyIf so, what type do you like most? As above Do you regularly cut yourself when shaving? Almost never, I use those 3 blade disposable razors The trick with a beard is to trim down to skin with an electric trimmer, then use the razor.

Facial topiary, like pubic topiary, is for twats  Dunno if it's still a rule, but the Royal Navy used to give you two weeks to grow a beard - if after a fortnight it's crap then you have to shave it.

I have had a mustache for 45 years,,,,trimmed regularly!  Many years ago, I wore a #1. For the last 2 years I have had a #10. I use an electric razor, so "NO" cutting!

Do you like beards and moustaches? Depends My husband had a mustache for nearly forty years, I've never been a fan. It has been going white lately, so it's been removed now and he looks much younger. My friend Steven has a beard and a mustache; he has shoulder length hair as well. His hair and his beard are quite soft and lovely to touch, unlike my husband's facial hair which is coarse. If so, what type do you like most? I don't mind, as long as they are suited to the face they are on. Well trimmed is good. For kissing and necking a soft beard is a must. Do you regularly cut yourself when shaving? Well I suppose this doesn't apply to me, as you've been talking about beards. I have on occasion gotten cut while shaving my legs.

I hope this doesn't disappoint to many of you but I wear a modified van dyke........ironic name.......had the same style on my face since I was 22...it just my thing........ .....when I go to spend time in Alaska I let my beard go full....and have it professional trimmed when I return.... however it takes awhile for you to grow a beard...next time....let it go and have a professional shape to your face...it may surprise.....you...when a beard gets longer it gets softer.... the bearded one...blue....
