WOMEN WEAR IT WELL ... BUT NOT VERY OFTEN  Increasingly women buy dresses just to wear once! A survey of 2,000 British women found that the majority of fashion clothes are worn just seven times. 33 per cent of women considered clothes to be old after being worn just three times. Reasons for not wearing newly bought clothes included clothes no longer fit, clothes no longer look good outside the shop, and clothes already been seen by friends on social media. The survey also found that a woman on average spends £64 a month on clothes and that the average time between purchases was 89 days. As Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw put it, "We keep dresses we’ll never wear again, but we throw away our ex-boyfriends." Roughly, how much do you spend on clothes each month? In my wardrobe I have a few unworn shirts waiting for me to magically go down a size or two! My pride and joy in my wardrobe is a white T-shirt daubed with the insignia of the Italian Communist Party. It was bought in the early 1980s and I still regularly wear it! My Mum was very reluctant to be seen wearing new clothes in front of her in-laws. Raised in post-war rationing Britain, she didn’t want to be seen spending money on clothes. Whenever my grandparents visited our home without notice, my Dad would rush to remove the bottle of wine from the dining table. He didn’t want to be seen spending money on booze! I don’t spend much on clothes, preferring to wear my clothes until they fall apart! Perhaps my parents’ habits have rubbed off onto me.     |

I don't know what I spend on clothes each month maybe around 100 euros. Yes I have a couple of things that I have never worn...can't remember why I bought them now. The oldest piece??? A full length evening dress....it cost a small fortune and I haven't the heart to get rid of the it.  ~~Anais Nin~~

Roughly, how much do you spend on clothes each month? Not much, and I buy most of it second hand. Are there any unworn items of clothing in your wardrobe? Flannel shirts. I never wear flannel shirts and I always get them as Christmas gifts from someone. What’s the oldest item of clothing in your wardrobe? I think it's a university of Toronto sweatshirt that I got in 1987 and hasn't fit for ten years at least. I have a sentimental attachment to it. Become a member now and get a free tote bag.

Oh yes, I have one closet just with the various variations of military uniforms over 30 years. And Rather expensive suits that I seldom wear anymore What’s the oldest item of clothing in your wardrobe? Other than the uniforms, several sets of boots that are 20- 25 years old

Roughly, how much do you spend on clothes each month? Less then $20.00 dollars (12.84 GBP)! I go to a thrift store...I don' buy new anymore! Are there any unworn items of clothing in your wardrobe? Plenty of shirts and pants....and ties! What’s the oldest item of clothing in your wardrobe? What’s the oldest item of clothing in your wardrobe? My birthday suit is as old as I am!  The next thing that comes to mind is my "Santa" suit

Women are emotional shoppers. I would say about every 89 days is correct...season changes bring need of something new. I usually buy at end of season for the next year. Living in a subtropical local has made a change in habits. Nine months out of the year we wear shorts and bathing suits. The other three are crop pants and light sweaters. I have an old sweater from my college days. It is huge and bleach stained, with a few holes in it and I love it. Like an old friend.

There is a pair of jeans that are at least twenty years old that fit again. The oldest items no longer worn: my wedding dress is 33 years old. I have some baby clothes, 56-57 years old and a dress from when I was 4 or 5 so that one is 52 years old.
