AN UNCONFIRMED WORLD RECORD    Today - 22 June - is National Onion Rings Day. It’s also National Chocolate Éclair Day, No Panty Day and Stupid Guy Thing Day. But I want to celebrate the humble onion ring with my world record stack of onion rings. Like most people, I like eating onion rings as a side order to a steak meal. My favourite onion rings are beer-battered onion rings. 1. The origins of the onion ring are a little unclear. A recipe for deep fried onion rings appeared in an advert in the New York Times Magazine in 1933, though there is evidence that onion rings existed well before then. John Mollard’s cookbook The Art of Cookery Made Easy and Refined, published in 1802, contains a recipe for fried onions with Parmesan cheese, which involved frying rings of onions. 2. A & W, an American restaurant chain, is credited with popularising onion rings in fast food restaurants when onion rings appeared on its menus in the 1960s. 3. There is no world record set yet for the most number of onion rings to be consumed in one minute. 4. Ryan (Barrel Master) Lambert allegedly holds the world record for the fastest time to place 27 just deep-fried onion rings on his little finger. His record time was 43.39 seconds. 5. There is a blog called the Unreasonably Dangerous Onion Rings. Since there are very few onion ring world records, I decided to attempt a world record of having the most onion rings stacked on my cock.
