Frank Sinatra ordered Jack Daniel’s by the bottle. Tom Cruise ordered neat tequila. The Queen drank a gin Martini without a lemon slice. John Travolta drank a Belvedere Martini. Mick Jagger, a close friend of the club owner, was the only person allowed to breach the club’s dress code. Nigel Dempster was the only journalist allowed entry into the club. I particularly going to jazz clubs. Jazz is made for drinking, smoking and chatting! My favourite club, but long since closed, was the Casablanca on Hope Street in Liverpool. The club was located in a terraced property, with bars playing different kinds of music on every floor. I had a great time drinking, chatting and dancing in the basement but I didn’t have sex in the club. After the club closed it became The Casa Bar which was run by dockers sacked in the Liverpool Dockers’ Strike of 1995 to 1998. The sacked dockers also helped to write, with Jimmy McGovern and Irvine Welsh, the television drama, Dockers.    |

Oh Hugh . . . First off, I had to google "nightclub", so there's your answer I suppose. I have been to bars. The difference being having or lacking a dance floor. I have been to a lounge, which seems to be the same as a nightclub. A lounge is purportedly an upmarket nightclub, or so says google. When was the last time you went to a nightclub? never, I don't think, unless I have and can't remember, in which case, I must have had a very good time. Do you prefer downmarket or upmarket clubs?
