DO I HOLIDAY WITH SOPHIA LOREN OR AUDREY HEPBURN?      At school in my teens, there were three women who were particularly lusted over - Sophia Loren, Brigitte Bardot and Raquel Welch. I was in the Sophia Loren camp, though I don’t think the Italian film actress noticed my tent, never mind my pole! After school, my celebrity crush moved from Sophia Loren to Audrey Hepburn and then to my current crush, Rachel Weisz. I’m now planning, with my girlfriend, a summer holiday. We’ve decided Italy not least because I’ve never been there before, but we can’t decide where to go in Italy. At the moment it’s a toss-up between Rome and Naples. In Rome I could be Gregory Peck chasing Audrey Hepburn in the 1953 film Roman Holiday; or, in Naples I could be Clark Gable chasing Sophia Loren in the 1960 film It Started in Naples. My best friend, who has visited both cities, says Rome has the better ice cream and Naples the better pizza. He’s clearly oblivious to the Roman charms of the Coliseum, Sistine Chapel and Trevi Fountain and the Neapolitan charms of the Royal Palace of Naples, Capello Sansevero and nearby ruins of Pompeii. Sophia Loren or Audrey Hepburn? Clark Gable or Gregory Peck? Pizza or ice cream? It’s such a tight choice between Naples and Rome! Do you have any holiday plans this year? If so, where? Have you ever been to Italy? If so, where did you go? Who were your teenage crushes? Below are six bits of trivia about Sophia Loren: 1. In 1982 she served an 18-day prison sentence on tax evasion charges, which she was later cleared of. 2. She turned down the role of Alexis Carrington in the Dynasty television series. 3. Peter Sellers was infatuated with Sophia Loren, though his love was never returned. 4. In 1999, Sophia Loren filed a lawsuit against 76 adult websites for posting photoshopped nude photos of her on the Internet. 5. Born in Naples, Sophia Loren is a big fan of the football club, Società Sportiva Calcio Napoli, and once promised to do a striptease if Napoli got promoted - Napoli did but I'm not sure if she did!. 6. In 2007, and at the age of 72, Sophia Loren posed scantily clad for the Pirelli Calendar.      |

My tent was always pitched for Sophia. Far as where to go in Italy, I would go to the race tracks cause I am a road race fan. Hopefully I would meet a Sophia type there who loves racing too. Enjoy your trip  When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Hmmmm Sophia has the edge as far as The_Committee is concerned... 1. see above photographs; 2. Audrey sadly passed away 20 years ago so our table for 2 in the hotel restaurant may meet with some objections from staff and other patrons... unless you throw in Raquel Welch in her fur bikini in One Million Years BC.

"YES"!!I plan to camp with my new "caravan" as much as possible this summer!  Never been to Italy, but almost, when I went to Germany! "Ohhh YES"!! Raquel Welch!! Yummy!!  Do you realize how long ago it was that I was a teenager?

It would have to be Naples for me....my first husband was born there. I don't know if we have blogged together long enough for you to know that I am not allowed to fly for medical reasons so my holiday plans are for my own garden....I have finished the back garden and will start work on the front this summer. I am quite content with that....I love pottering in the garden now that my nasty neighbour is gone. My teenage crushes....Elvis Presley, Adam Faith and David Essex.  Sophie Loren is the sexiest woman alive IMHO. ~~Anais Nin~~

I have already holidayed this year and did so in Spain. On the beach. With lots and lots of other Brits. I've never done it before. It was better than I thought it would be. I've never been to Italy but I'd choose Rome! I never had crushes on actresses.My crushes were musicians - Siouxsie Sioux, Kate Bush and Kelly Johnson of Girlschool. I find Spain with Brits strange. I once went to a Spanish town, a non-tourist place for Brits, only to hear a lot of fuck swear words and a refusal to speak basic Spanish when attended at the table. It's not good!
