PEN15, YES. VA61NA, NO.

In the UK, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) is responsible for issuing registration/license plates for cars. It also sells personalised car number plates.

The most expensive car registration plate bought at a DVLA auction was for the 25O car registration plate. It was bought by a Ferrari 250 GTO car owner for £518,480!

Recently, the DVLA prevented someone from obtaining the car registration plate, 15LAM, for being "inappropriate". However, it will allow the car registration plate, M014MED, to go up for auction; it’s expected to sell for more than £100,000.

The DVLA allows PEN15 but not VA61NA as a car registration plate! It allows ORG45M but not BL03JOB!

Other car registration number plates banned by the DVLA include: AL6OHOL, AL14LAH, BE11END, BO11LUX, BOO3ZER, D1KES, F4GOT, GU11LTY, JE55US, MO55AD, PE12VRT, P15OFF, PR15SON, PU15SSY, SH15TTY, SLO5HED, UP15BUM and WA15TED.

In December last year, Jeremy Clarkson and his Top Gear team were attacked by a mob and subsequently chased out of Argentina for driving a car with the registration plate, H982FKL. The Falklands War (or Guerra de las Malvinas depending on what side you were on) started in April 1982. Jeremy Clarkson, he’s such a sensitive guy!

Have you ever had a personalised car registration/license plate?
If not would you be tempted to buy one?
If so, what car registration/license plate would you buy?

I’ve just taken delivery of a new Lamborghini Aventa with a personalised car registration plate - see the last photo below!

No to all three questions. It's NOT all about me. I don't even like T shirts with slogans on them, or advertising. If people want to know what I think they can open an account here just like the rest of you poor souls. The one exception I'd make was a shirt one of my customers was wearing one day. I wanted that one! It said: "Fuck you. I got enough friends." My wife keeps promising to have one made for me, but I haven't found it under the Christmas tree yet.

1. Nope.
2. Never.
3. If I was ever to do it it would need to involve some sort of toilet humour.

I don't think I'd fancy one either....I like being anonymous.

I've had many different vanity plates ranging from promoting my favorite rock band to my enthusiasm for disc golf

Everyone is on a different plane of intelligence. Some people's plane has not taken off yet!!

I would never have a personalized plate. I try to be as anonymous as possible with my car. I want to blend and or otherwise, disappear. LOL I drive very fast most of the time.

Georgia reviews the vanity plate request before it is issued. If the plate has something considered inappropriate on it, denied!

There is a difference between a good BJ and a bad BJ.

The UK doesn't do veterans' plates. I think it would be popular here.

Personalised car registration plates aren't for me either, not that i own a car anyway!
I can't stand wearing clothes with brand names plastered over them. It's amazing that people pay lots of money for branded clothes to be a walking advert!
