WOMAN HAS BABY!  A baby girl has just born and this country has just stopped functioning! The Duchess of Cambridge, aka Kate Middleton, has just given birth to a baby girl, who is fourth in line to the throne behind Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George. The baby, weighing 8lb 3oz, was born in London's St Mary's Hospital in the Lindo Wing, named after the esteemed blogger lindoboy100! There is now a media frenzy outside the hospital where the baby was born. Normal television has just been suspended; tomorrow’s newspapers will be full of the news of the royal birth; and people will just talk endless rubbish about the baby. The baby is only three hours old as I write, and already her birth is spoiling my long weekend! I hate this country when anything royal happens. I need a holiday abroad while this event passes! It’s believed that Prince William is the father. It’s also believed that the princess will be called Alice, Charlotte, Alexandra, Victoria, Elizabeth or Diana. By convention, the Queen has to approve the baby’s name. I hope she’s called Diana just to annoy Prince Charles for the rest of his life! I am happy the baby is healthy, but I have to be honest it means nothing to me. Why do people love royalty? I have always wondered that. Not my thing, but there must be some attraction

We all knew it as going to be a girl over here in Victoria.. Is the news of this birth dominating news coverage where you live? sure has been! Why do people love royalty? Because Canada is very closely tied in with the UK. Become a blog watcher sweet_vm

I think, it's not the royalty they love but the idea of a fairy tale in real life. Photos are pretty funny! This is the first I have heard of the birth...I do listen to the news and last I heard they were still waiting....thanks for the update. I hate when royal news is all you hear ....I did see on the news where some gentleman was camped out by the hospital for 10 days, waiting...WHF's with that?

Those images are hilarious, S, thanks for the chuckle... When I was on a commercial channel earlier, their was all this hoo-har regarding the impending birth... BFD, women give birth every day but if the newborn is in line to the British throne, some people get more excited. Royalty, not necessarily British, will always hold some interest to the average commoner who wants to feel part of something wealthier... It beats devoting all their interest in religion. Most people find royalty perversely fascinating as these people go through their dramas and moral face-plants in life and proves that even nobility has humility.

I think abolishing royalty here will actually liberate the royal family members!

Or we could have the more hip and scaled down royal families of Sweden and the Netherlands! Or even better still, the Osbournes, the Beckhams and the Benefits Street!

Nope, don't think so, unless they show it on a.ff, I am pretty oblivious to much else right now. Why do people love royalty? Not a clue. We have tv show called The Royals, modeled after your Royal Family. It was alright, saw one episode at my sister's place. The King has gone mad and is trying to abolish the Monarchy. I think his brother and the Queen are conspiring and are going to do him in. Well if you ever need to get away, you've got a friend in New Jersey. I've booked my one-way flight to New Jersey! I'm arriving tomorrow; can you pick me up from the airport?
